Today begins a full week of rain for our thirsty Northern California area.
Its been cold but now we will have rains coming from the Tropical direction.
Unfortunately it means not much snow pack. That's what we need so badly.
I guess we are all over the news because of the rains. Where Dave and I live it won't be too bad, just soggy and gray. Further north will get lots of flooding and mess.
Just as I stepped out the front door, the sky opened up and I scooted back inside.
Yes Rain's a comin'
Hate having the lights on all day but its just too dark to do anything without it.
Dave and I are feeling a bit better, thank you Lord.
We had to put out our 2 utility pumps in the backyard yesterday. Trying to get ahead of the slossy swamp that happens every year.
Praying for no leaks in our roof this year.
Such are the joys of home ownership...
And life goes on...

I hope no leaks for your roof, too...it is always a worry. Even living with our daughter, I either think of something to worry about or forget I am here and worry the worry we had at our old house. Am always so thankful we are not there when it storms. Glad you two are feeling better.
Home ownership is always a challenge, I think. I hope no roof leaks for you. We have dealt with that in the past and it is a huge hassle. Cold temps and snow for us tomorrow. The weather is strange for this time of year.
New roofs are so expensive!! Dumb question, but why do you need snow more than rain? I'm so glad you are both better!
Not a dumb question Ginny, we need the snow pack for our water supply for the coming year. Rain is just runoff...snow pack with a heavy water content is the Sacramento Valley's life source.
Sue
We see the forecast, which means our trip up North for the Services for my BIL will be wet, rainy and cold. That weather seems to follow funerals. So dressing warm, raincoats and umbrellas. Say a pray for our safe journey. Leaving tomorrow morning 6:30.
I’m checking in from the North
I just got home from Bible study - boy it’s wet out there! High winds. I have 2 gals in the study who live in Eastern Shasta and they are getting a lot of snow. Of course we always get more because we’re north. So our mountains are getting some good snow. Right now white out conditions and avalanche warnings on Shasta.
Pray for me as I travel on I-5 south to Anderson in this heavy rain - I have a dreaded dentist appointment at 3:30.
Heavy snow. Total snow accumulations 8 to 18 inches above 4500 feet, with locally higher accumulations up to two feet over peaks. Additional accumulations 4 to 8 inches down to around 3500 feet. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.
WHERE
Burney Basin / Eastern Shasta County, Mountains Southwestern Shasta County to Western Colusa County, Shasta Lake Area / Northern Shasta County, and Western Plumas County/Lassen Park
Definitely praying for safe trip to the dreaded dentist. Brrr...it makes me cold just reading about your weather. No wind here those are huge gusts.
Sue
It will be nice and cosy inside! 🫕
I'm glad you too are feeling better.
It was dark and dreary here today and snow is predicted tomorrow. I hope you all stay safe in all the rain and flooding!
Glad you are feeling better. Enjoy the rain. Hope you don't get any leaks.
So glad you're feeling better! ... I hope that makes soggy gray days maybe not better, but certainly more tolerable.
Seems it's always one thing after another with home ownership. Cost of doing Life, as my late blog friend used to say. Hugs!
Oh Wow! I pray you will not have any leaky roofs or anything else! I know you need the rain, and I do understand about the need for the snow pack. Praying things will work out for the best situation for you. So glad you are both feeling some better. Please take it easy, however, and don't get out in the bad weather! Thank you for checking in with us. We are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.
Thank you for your prayers! Surprisingly there was not that much traffic going south but there were big rigs all on the sides of the roads due to road closures and chair requirements just outside Redding to the north. I took the backroads home. There’s a lot of cars and trucks at a standstill till the roads open up due to heavy snow. I love it!!! 😻
Not a good weather week here either. It started with the wind last night and the rain. Hope your roof doesn't leak. That's never a fun one to deal with. Glad to hear you're both feeling better.
don't get me started on home ownership and the perils there of. ha ha.. glad you both feel better and prayers the pumps will work and there will be water ONLY outside your home... each place we live has weather and seasons we don't like. if I could go back and know what I know now, would have made different plans to be able to afford to rent and let the owners deal with the home owning.
happy that you both are feeling some better and I pray you continue with the healing. These old colds, flu bugs are hard to get rid of and they make you feel so bad. Seems like there is always something when you own your own home. thank Goodness that my oldest brother own his own construction business and my youngest brother is a super talented builder. I can usually get repairs done on our house very quickly and at cost. Prayers that you have no leaks and that the Winter months will be kind to you. Happy Thursday and hope you feel good today.
There is always something happening with a house. I hope you don’t get flooding, Sue.
Sorry I am late. I am glad you are getting rain, but you need snow? I hope you don't get any leaks in your roof. There is always something going on - right?
Glad to read you are doing better. I know that the PNW really got hit. Glad it didn't get too bad where you are. It appears we will have a dry Thanksgiving here and i hope no big snow for awhile. Usually the big snow storms come more in January and February.
