TOMORROW IS HALLOWEEN

Tomorrow is Halloween

I always think it is fun to see the kids in their costumes for Halloween... especially the little ones.

The weather man says there may be a spritz or two of that wet stuff coming from the sky.  I really hope it doesn't happen.

We get fewer and fewer goblins coming to our door every year.  I do hope we get a few.

Here are my personal Goblins from 1976 or 1977.

Karen (my Alzheimer friend's daughter) ... My oldest son Steve ... My son Mark and Karen's brother Kevin.  Its hard to believe that Kevin passed away 24 years ago.  These 4 kids would go out every year with Dave and Karen's dad Jack.  Up and down the hills of our neighborhood they would go.  The bounty was always stupendous.
Fun memories.  It seems like a lifetime ago..

Always be Grateful

Always be Kind

For our kids, a little earlier than the years you have in your sweet family/friend memory picture but otherwise very similar memories of a neighborhood tradition. I honestly think our kids got just as excited for Halloween as they did for Christmas -- it was a kids' holiday back then (and I remember the same from my own childhood actually). Not so much nowadays around here -- our granddaughter takes the kids to planned celebrations, malls, Halloween parties at school and haunted hayrides -- they have lots of fun and it makes cute pictures. But not the same simple neighborhood fun and I'm sorry about that. But change is a fact of life by our age!

Always fun to look back on former Halloween costumes. We have had elephant, giraffe, beaver, spaceman, cop and robber, Lady Gaga, clown, witch, bunny wabbit, mouse, Chewbacca, Darth Vader etc etc.... I made older son a Tin Man costume, it was so rigid he couldn't go up house steps to Trick or Treat.!

Thankfully, you and I lived in a time when our littles observed Halloween in the best possible way. We've not had any beggars the whole time we've lived here -- I think due to the proximity of our home on a darkened lot, across the street from overgrown vegetation. Spooky!
I hope some cuties stop by your door tomorrow evening!

Thanks for the memories - how did Kevin die - he was young.

Fun memories! I was just thinking today of how busy it was back when the kids were young, coming up with costumes and trying to stop at the grandparents.. Busy but fun!
It's been beautiful here the last few days, but of course it's supposed to get cold and rain tomorrow.

It’s a busy week when you have little ones who are anticipating Halloween.
We don’t celebrate Halloween and most of my neighbors don’t either so we turn off the porch light and close the blinds. Plus usually around 8pm, the last few years we get a caravan of vehicles that come from the rural areas and drop off their kids. So it was not uncommon to have children banging on our door at 9pm. I believe that was the main reason we as neighbors just stopped.
Anyway for me, the “holiday” is a stumbling block to my faith having come out of that world of darkness and now I can physically distance myself from it. It’s never held any appeal to me.

I hope you had some sweet little ones come to your door. I can imagine that your door would be a welcoming place! I love the photo of your kids so long ago. We used to make homemade costumes out of whatever we happened to have on hand. We were hobos quite often...seemed like that fit our wardrobe the best. LOL. Sweet and fun memories. Thank you for sharing with us. (((hugs)))

That picture of Halloween is just how I remember it with my friends. Walking up and down safe streets was such a blessing. Thank you for linking up.
