THIS YEAR'S FRUIT

The heat has been so overwhelming this year.  It has really had an effect on our fruit trees and vines.

Apples were a failure as well as the pomagranites.  We eventually cut that poor tree down.

We actually had a bumper crop of grapes this year.  A lot of the bunches are beginning to shrivel due to the heat.

These are peaches hanging over our fence from the neighbor's tree.

Hope a few will ripen so we can savor the sweetness before they are all picked.

Our One and Only Pear this year!!

Last year we had so many and they were so good.

Last but not least.. our Juniper bush/tree is full of what I call Juniper Berries.

The tiny "flitter" birds seem to love them.  If only I could capture them with my camera .. that's why I call them flitter birds.

So that's it for my Big Photo Shoot.

At least I got out in the dusk-y time to shoot a few snaps.

Have a blessed weekend.

Juniper berries are one of the only things that sustain the birds thru the winter. Your photo of the grapes is so lovely with the way the light is. And the pear kind of looks like a Renaissance painting. SO hot here, too!

This year, our grapevines have once again failed to yield any fruit. To add to the disappointment, our fig tree has also not produced any fruit, which is surprising considering the abundant harvest we had last summer. I don't get it. The only positive outcome seems to be the successful harvest of almonds.

This is the first year we haven't planted a vegetable garden. My son provides us with what we need, and if we need more, we drive out to the farm and their roadside stand. The Farmer's markets around here have become more artisanal and very little produce. Disappointing.

The fruit you do have this year looks great. Too bad so much wasn’t produced though. Blessings to you this weekend!

Beautiful! That grape cluster looks like something from the pages of Wine Spectator. (See where my mind goes? lol)

my favorite photo is the peaches but they are all beautiful and this is sad. if you are having problems it means the farmers are too and it will continue to push the prices up becaue of ess fruit and veggies. the weather can wipe out our food supply.

Okay your photos were gorgeous - sorry about the apples. Will your neighbor let you eat those beautiful peaches? The grapes looked so nice and so did the pear.
You are lucky.
Love, sandie

I so would love to have some of those peaches. Good peaches are probably my favorite fruit.

It sure sounds hot out there...

This is my first time on your blog. I've come over from Just Breathe. I love photography as well although my SLR is so old it doesn't work anymore. I just my phone for now. I look forward to reading - and seeing - more on your blog.

Thanks for the info about your temperatures, wow, triple digits for so long must be exhausting. Your AC must be running constantly ($$$$). Today it's 24C (75 F) which is nice. Last week it was 32C and very humid, yucky.

Juniper berries can be harvested and used as a spice once they are dried. We have some we collected from juniper trees around here.
