Remember a few weeks ago my post about our neighbor bringing us a roasted chicken...just because?
Well yesterday we were able to reciprocate that gesture.
Hye called us yesterday morning and said she needed some help. She didn't sound good. She said she was trying to get her Green Waste can out to the curb for Garbage day. The landscape guy had filled her can to overflowing with very wet leaves, branches and small rocks. Instead of it going forward it became off balanced and fell completely on her. It banged her face, wrists and body. She was in pain and just couldn't pick the can up again.
I am so glad she called for help and Dave went over there. He said the can was so heavy that he had to remove half of the stuff to just get it upright again.
Hye's calling for help really showed how impossible it was for her to do things herself. Hye is a very proud, do it myself, single for at least 25 years, Korean woman. She's a bit like me in not wanting to ask for help. Always giving, never taking.
Everything got done and taken by the garbage men. So far she hasn't needed to go to the doctor but we are available.
We are in a blessed neighborhood and really do take care of each other.
Our almond tree is blooming it's head off this week. Its so lovely and says Spring is on the way.
Have a great day.

I am so glad that she called you and didn't try to go any further with it! And also how wonderful that you were both home!! For myself, I don't know if I would even be able to live here if I was alone.
Your almond bloom is pretty.
I am so glad she has you to call and you live in such a wonderful neighborhood.
The man who worked on her yard should never have loaded it that heavy!!!
you do live in a friendly neighborhood. I know she was so happy he could get it up. hope she doesn't need the doctor from her collision with the trash can.
I'm glad to hear that she is doing alright. What a scare that was for her. So glad you were home and that Dave was able to help her.
Bravo :-) it's always good to help.
And then you can also accept help.
It's wonderful to have great neighbors.
I send you a happy greeting.

The tree is a beauty. So is the neighbourhood.
Having good neighbors is a huge blessing. Glad that you are both there for each other.
What a fright, for Hye! This incident makes me think of that quote by Fred Rogers' mother - "Look for the helpers."
Oh, Sue I'm so glad Dave was able to help her. Wet leaves are really heavy!
The blossoms are so beautiful and your photo "perfect".
That was nice to be able to help your neighbour. Silly gardeners should have realised it would be too heavy for a little lady. Hope she is still okay.Nice to know the neighbours look out for each other in your area.
Hope your neighbor heals up quickly.
Those gardners should have taken the can out instead of leaving it for her to try and do. I'm glad she called you for help and you were home.
What a blessing to have good neighbors.
And your almond blossoms are beautiful.
