Yesterday we finally went to have our very long overdue oil change on our only car.
We have an old 1999 Honda with 190,000 miles on it.
Its really been a fantastic car for us,
but like Dave and I getting old...it is too.
The place found that we also have a leak in the seal of our radiator.
Can't afford to have that fixed at this time.
Hubby said by the way could you check and see what is making the awful and weird noise in our wheels.
Of course you know what's coming...
The rear brakes were metal on metal and the front ones have issues too.
For safety's sake we had to bite the bullet and have the rear ones done.
$391.00 later we went out of the shop with some new rear brakes and new oil, etc.
That was money we could ill afford to "donate" to the business. Our aching checkbook isn't happy and actually neither are we. Praying things will stay together until we can get some financing.
All that to say things like this get my tummy to rolling.
We have a huge property tax bill coming up and being California everything is just out of sight now...
I am constantly reminding myself not to worry and leave it in God's hands.

I know what you mean. It seems like every time we turn around there is something breaking. It is so hard to make ends meet on ss. I pray every night that the Lord will see us through.
wow, oddly enough our 2000 Toyota with about 250,000 miles has been a gem with not too much money put into it except the last year or so. We just took ours to the shop because of what we thought was a leak coming from a radiator hose. They couldn't find anything wrong with it. They didn't even charge us for the price they charge just to look at a car. We had to get a new transmission at the beginning of the year. So it is starting to cost us now to keep it.
We love our old car and sure hope it keeps on running. We did have to get a jeep because of snow in the mountains but it's the Solara i love and I don't drive the jeep.
Money is tight for so many people as everything is going up in price. We do our best to keep within a budget but when car stuff comes up ..ugh..Up here - it's also tires that wear out quicker than if we lived down the mountain.
Hope it all evens out for you and soon.
We are watching what we spend these days. Home and car insurance are due this month and of course the bill is higher!
Costs seem to be rising everywhere, but income is not keeping up. Car repairs are so costly, but have to be done. Hope this all works out for your good in the end.
Ohhhh, I hear ya on cost of living. We had a HUGE expense with house a couple of weeks ago (makes your brakes and oil change look like penny candy). No!!! I am not condoning your worry ...'cause we have big financial worries these days on a fixed income. And yes, California is expensive!!!! I had just an oil change done on my car...$117. I remember when way back I thought $15 was outrageous. (((Sue)))
Ps, love the captioned graphic!!
Prayers your way, my friend. Your posting in spite of the vehicle setbacks and looming tax bills is evidence of courage and a sense of humor that is still functioning! And the basket case is great!
Oh, I know what you mean about having to remind yourself who is in control...I have to do that every day and lots of times many times a day. I hope things level out for you.
Meant to say one of our daughters lived in California for about 6 yrs! I cannot imagine living there now.
Oh gosh, I am sorry!
oh no on the car repairs, now I feel bad complaining that I am driving a 2007 and bob a 2004, so your story has made me feel better about our newer cars. owning anything at all causes repair bills, we need the cars and we need the homes but the money never stops bleeding out. glad you got the brakes made safe.
Glad you got it fixed for the safety factor. It's always something and everything costs so much to have done. Take care and have a nice weekend.
Sorry to hear that you have money worries. The cost of living has skyrocketed.
