ABC WEDNESDAY LETTER " Y "
Here we are at the next to the last letter of the alphabet. Todays letter is " Y ".
" Y " is for the Yucca plant. Its a strange plant which was finished blooming when we saw them in the Nevada desert.
The pictures will look more detailed if you click on them to enlarge.
Actually this Yucca looks pretty yucky to me. No more flowers up on the yellowish stem.

Great Y for the day! And your photos are really lovely! Love the blue skies, too!
Hope you have a great week!
Sylvia
I LOVE the blue skies... missing them here :)
Not the prettiest plant around but interesting, nevertheless.
It's strange to see them in the wild. I'm used to them as houseplants only!
A great view of the yucca for Y day. The last shot is beautiful.
Ah, I don't think they're yucky at all!
Thank you for stopping by my blog to comment. Awesome Y submission with the Yucca plant! Happy New Year!
Really great Y! Love the shots;-)
Have a great evening!
Well, what ELSE would one post for the letter Y if you live in a desert region! Great shots! Love the closeups...
Yucca at Red rock reminds me of all the many many Westerns i have read. Reall dig this post
That's a lot of Y there. Thanks for sharing!
YOU
That's where yuccas belong, at Red Rock. We removed two from our farm last summer. I never felt they belonged here. But when they bloom, they really are something.
That last shot is just stunning.
Happy New blogging year to you, Sue!
They are a little prettier when they bloom! Nice shots!
What a great Y post. Great photos!
Happy New Year!
What a great picture. Even in all of it's yuckiness I can see God's magnificent art work : ) LOVE your pictures. You knock the socks off of me ALL the time! And I really need socks today because it is FREEZING! Brrrrrrrrrrrrr!
So that's what it looks like. I remember loving a shampoo back in the 70s called Yucca Dew.. it smelled wonderful.
Sue, It looks like the Mojave - Red Rock Canyon right? That would be a great place to be right now. Thanks for the great photos!
What very interesting country, - and really the Yucca's are quite beautiful with their delicate spirals. The rabbit brush in the background stirs all my old longings to dye wool again!

Nice example of yucca plants and a great Y choice. That desert environment looks nice and warm.
gorgeous landscape shots! Your Yucca looks so much better in your environment then the one I have in my backyard.
un beau paysage et elle est très belle cette plante, impressionnante.
These Yucca plants are all of the rage here in NZ Sue, as indoor plants. I don't like them but Jill had one for a while till something went wrong with it and I happily threw it out. Like you I think Yucca describes them well! - Dave
wonderful take on the theme!
We have yuccas in some Dutch gardens too. They flower every second year. Good choice for the letter "y"!
It's good to be back in touch with you on a more regular basis. Y was fun for me as it appears to be for you also!
Never seen a yucca plant and I'm actually not sure I want to - great post though.
Great choice for Y today! I briefly thought about a yucca, too, but I couldn't find any good pictures in my files--agaves, yes, but no yuccas. Desert plants aren't native here, of course, but I find them very interesting.
Great for Y - and that last shot is simply amazing!
Good choice for Y. Yucca is such a useful plant, beautiful flower (National Flower for Mexico), ediable root and aloe for skin!!
My yucca is full of snow right now!!
The photos were definitely NOT Yucky... :-)
Interesting plant, nice perspective and wonderful view on the last photo!
They are certainly tough plants. I love the first photo with the miriad curling strands.
Oh yes! Yucca!! I have a 'tame' one in the conservatory, but we did see some very large specimens in the desert when we visited!
Very strange plants indeed!
Don't you just love those yuccas? i do. except before the natives had wool, they used yucca to make their clothing out of. Ouch! Itchy! Can you imagine??
You certainly are a master of macro images, such beautiful details once again!
