A surprise activity this morning has changed my post a bit.
I looked out our back sliding patio door about an hour ago and was startled to see some movement in our weedy yard.
3 young gray foxes were having the time of their lives up on our retaining wall and then down in the yard. At first I thought it was a mother and 2 young but it seems more like 3 youngsters ... I haven't a clue. I'm not up on foxes !
And after having a snack in our yard ... up and over the 6 foot fence they climbed just like a cat would do.
Now I know why we are finding lots of "scat" in various places.
I just hope they don't feel too comfortable in our yard. It is kind of unnerving to know they were so close. If we can get the weeds out soon they may not think its their new undercover hideaway. I don't want to be surprised by them when I am out there.
Never a dull moment around here !
Now on to the July 28 challenge ...

Happy Birthday to Steve... Hope his day is filled with many sweet Blessings.. This is really cool to see the foxes o your rock wall. I'm scared of them as well as wolfs and coyotes. IT's the sounds they make... I'm guessing it was neat to watch them though. If only the foxes would scare away the skunks!! Sending you hugs and sweet thoughts 🩷🌸
Happy birthday soon to be Grandpa Steve.
Oh, my goodness - those foxes so close would scare me too.
Love, sandie/chatty
Happy birthday to Steve! Was it your blog where I read that there are rats in your yard? The foxes will kill and eat them.
Happy Birthday to Steve! He sounds like a real blessing.
Seeing the fox is cool, but I wouldn't want them that close to me either.
What a treat to spot foxes! It’s rare to see them during the day; usually, they’re out at dawn, dusk, or nighttime since they’re naturally shy around people. I’d call Fish and Game so they can trap and relocate them. They’re not dangerous to humans, so there’s no need to be afraid- just best for them to be in their own habitat. They sure are adorable, though.
🎂Birthday blessings to your son! It’s hard to believe my sons are getting old at 41 and 45 when, in my eyes, they’re still little boys.
Enjoy the day, Sue
Happy Birthday to Steve. Hope he enjoyed his day.
Wow on the foxes. They would be fun to watch but definitely wouldn't want them hanging out full time.
Happy Birthday to your son.
Oh, the blue photo is so awesome!! Look at those foxes!!
Wow foxes in your yard. I don't know if that is a good thing or not.Happy Birthday to your son Steve. He sounds like a lovely person. Soon to be grandpa wow so you'' be great grand parents. Well done !
Happy Birthday to your Son! And loving the fox! Their fur is amazing... On them! Not off them! lol Just clarifying! lol
hugs
Donna
Small fry like foxes are afraid of humans, unlike bear and puma. Frankly I'd rather take my chances with a cranky animal than an over medicated, boozed up human.
Congrats 🎂to your son, Steve on his special day and if he will be a grandpa soon then you and Dave are great grandparents to be🙂.
Beautiful photos. ❤️ Happy Birthday to Steve.
I LOVE the foxes, and unless you have chickens or kittens in your yard, I wouldn't worry too much. They will keep the rodent population down, and that is a plus!! And I feel certain they would run if you came out the door. I would just enjoy them as a gift from God...and take lots of pictures!! And your other "gift from God", your "BABY BOY" Steve, is the best ever blue picture for blue day!! Love the sky photo, but love hearing about your sweet son and what a blessing he is!! Yes, where would we be without our sweet sons? Oh, and congratulations to him on becoming a grandpa soon, and then what an extra special gift that will be to you as well! Wonderful photos!!
Happy Birthday to Steve!
I have seen coyotes, but not foxes here. Happy Birthday to Steve, your BABY boy! ha ha Dan is my Baby Boy, he is 59. how did they grow up so fast? that is the question...
