Here's to a new week and the end of a crazy month of June !
I know I sound like a broken record BUT, where did this month Go?
Remember way back at the end of March and the beginning of April I posted about our "Baby Grapes"?
Well here they are now at the end of June. A few more weeks and they will be ripe for picking. Gotta beat the birds though ...
I went out to our plum trees the other day.
I found about 20 dried (maybe "fried") Santa Rosa plums on the ground. That was our entire crop of those delicious, juicy plums! I had failed to get out there in time due to the weather and all the hoop-la with Dave.
No photos though.
Then I went to our other plum tree and picked a huge amount of what I think are called "Green Plums".
They never look ripe when looking at the outside.
But ...
These are the sweetest tasting plums ever !
I made a lemon cake and stirred cut up plum pieces into it.
Talk about YUMMY ...
Guess what? Its all gone and I forgot to take a picture of it ... 😃😜
Can you believe that the inside of these plums is so blood red when the outside is quite ugly?
Maybe there's a lesson there too ...

I have never seen plums like this. And the grapes are almost too pretty to pick! But I know if you don't, the birds will.
How wonderful to have grapes and plums growing at your place! Love your grape photos. The plums looks so red and juicy inside. The only plums I like are the red plums, which are really red inside. I think the black plums produce the white inside and are not my favorite. These green plums look really good. That's so true, my friend, "you can't always tell a book by its cover." Thank you for the gentle reminder. I wish you wonderful days in July. I know June was a hard month for you. : )
Plums always remind me of going to my grandparents house. They had a plum tree and my grandfather would take me out and pick one for me. YUM.

I just had a flashback to my childhood, picking plums from whatever tree we happened to pass, never bothering to wash the skin. I can almost taste their juicy red goodness now!

I've never seen plums that look like yours, but the insides look red and delicious.
Oh, those grapes look luscious!!! And those plums!!! Wow!!! I haven't had a good plum in years. I rarely think to buy them because they are never as good in the grocery stores...same as peaches. But we don't have any roadside stands selling them either, so I miss out. Now I want one!!! So happy for you to have them growing free!!! I did pick more blueberries from our bush this morning. You have a good haul of fruit...the grapes look so good and although the plums make look bad on the outside, it's the taste inside that really is important...I love a good plum and would you believe that I even prefer them with salt. Sadly the birds got most of my red plums this year. Hope Dave is improving...my continued prayers for both of you!! Our humidity is terrible this year. I don't ever remember it being this bad. Ya'll stay cool out there!! Sending hugs..
Those plums look fabulous!
My favorite plum is the Santa Rosa. Hard to find now. Our grapes aren't looking so good. I think that 110 day might have done something. My husband hadn't yet put the shade cloth on all the grapes or tomatoes and the sun scorched the leaves. Oh well.
Your cake sounds amazing. That would be hard to resist.
I hope Dave is continuing to improve and better days are in your future.
