Monday Meanderings ...
Yesterday morning as I was sitting at my "office desk" I heard the most awful squawking noise that kept going on and on.
I looked out the window but couldn't find anything making the noise.
It kept going on so I finally went out in the front to figure it out.
I saw that there were 2 huge geese on the neighbors roof peak.
I guess it's that time of year around here ... mating season.
In all the time we have lived here geese have never landed in our neighborhood and especially not on the roof of a house.
I only had my cell with me so the photo isn't very clear.
When we came home from church the LoveBirds were gone.
This morning there was no activity either.
Just another bit of Wildlife in our cozy neighborhood.
What a noisy alarm clock for our poor neighbors.

Oh what fun! Do you have a pond or lake nearby? There must be some water somewhere near, or else they were just taking a little "rest stop" while traveling through...well, maybe not "resting", but taking a fun little break! LOL. I miss hearing the Canada Geese here that we usually have on our pond Since there's no water they haven't been landing/swimming/nesting here as in years past. I'm not sure about the Sand Hill Cranes either. They still fly in every day, but I can't see if they built a nest on the other side of the island or not. They don't require as much water as the geese, so here's hoping they will continue their tradition of nesting here. Time will tell if there will be a new 'baby colt" arrive sometime in the next month. I'll be watching. Keep us posted on whether or not your geese come back for a landing again. Fun to see!!! Love the monkey too! Have a blessed week.
Is that your home? It is big and beautiful for sure - a pretty place to mate - lol.
I see them! Glad you got out and found out what was going on. Tis the season!
About 10 years ago, we had turkeys on our roof. Crazy! That year, they were walking down the middle of the street, flying over fences, in our yards. I enjoyed it.
They look a bit like Canada geese. Great shots from a distance.
We have had a lot of these things down at the farm lake. I've not been down to see them, but I'm hoping to before they are gone. They do make a lot of noise. Glad you found out what the mystery sound was and that you were able to get a picture of them. We have had a good many sounds coming from our pecan trees...I think its a nest of squirrel babies... loves..
That was a fun distraction in your day!
There are a lot of geese around here but I've never seen any of the neighbors roof. I can only imagine how loud they were.
Gosh, those two must have been exuberant to summon you outside! Wish I could think of an accompanying song ... hmmmm. (Sorry, my mind's weary.) Thanks for the smiles!
I see them.
We saw geese on the roof of our neighbor's house about 5 years ago! We thought it really strange!

A nice sighting. It isn’t common to see geese on a roof here either.

Oh, how funny. The geese's honk is LOUD! I used to see them all the time in your town at the little trail off of Foothills. I also saw them at the cemetery, which was such a peaceful atmosphere. I can see them on top of your neighbor's roof. Yes, a loud alarm clock. Love the coffee quote you shared today too. ; )
That's interesting. Hope they don't show up everyday.
