MONDAY MEANDERINGS

 Monday Meanderings:

I have been reading so many blog posts concerning our world and the happenings of the day.

It made me think about an old gospel hymn we used to sing.

During WWII, Ruth Caye Jones, a pastor's wife, was reading a newspaper and seeing all of the casualty reports. She began to jot down thoughts and words.  The bible verse of II Tim. 3:1 was a trigger and also Heb. 6:19 ... "This is the Hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast."

In Times Like These:

Here are the words to the great old hymn...

In times like these we need a Savior

In times like these we need an anchor

Be very sure, be very sure, Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

This Rock is Jesus, yes, He's the One

This Rock is Jesus, the Only One

Be very sure, be very sure

Your anchor holds and grips the Solid Rock!

Always be Grateful

Always be Kind

I LOVE that old hymn, and I wish we'd sing it in church. I'm not sure our congregation knows that one, but we used to sing it a lot in our churches that we pastored. Yes, very appropriate for these times we are in today. My anchor holds, and grips the Solid Rock!!! Amen!

The is a very nice photo to go along with the words. I've never heard this song before. Yes, so much happening in the world right now, it's scary. But I'm a firm believer that this is His world, and He is taking care of it. It brings me comfort. Have a wonderful week, and I hope you are feeling better. : )

I haven't heard this hymn but I'll look it up. I pray everyday for these troubling times we are facing.. This is a good reminder for us all to sing the old hymns and allow them to settle our souls. I am so thankful for the anchor... Hope y'all are feeling much better..

that is a very old hymn, and we used to sing it often in church of my younger years. Hymns have sadly passed away from the church and they had so much meaning, now lost to several generations
