THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS

 Merry Day After Christmas !

Believe it or not, the sun is shining again though there is the "promise" of rain this afternoon.

Dave and I had a so called quiet day yesterday as all of the family was at other family celebrations.  Since the weather was so crazy we were really ok with staying cozy at home.

Its been years since we had such wild weather ALL Day Long.  The thunderstorms were centered right over our town and it felt like they were right over our house.

The rain came down in buckets...

There was a break in the weather and the sun came out.  I sat out on our patio and so enjoyed the warmth.

I enjoyed the long shadows in our sloppy wet yard.

Then the next wave of storm clouds rolled in, so I went inside.

And ...

Crash Bang ... the heavens opened up

This went on all day,  Sunshine then Storms moved in...

It got cold and miserable so I went in for good.

Fortunately we never lost power and our pumps did their job though it was hard for them to catch up.

The night was quiet and we both were so thankful to sleep well.
Many in other parts of Northern CA.  had serious problems.  I feel so sorry for the people especially down in SO.CA that had flooding and mudslides.

Since I shared the gift of our son and daughter in law buying all of our early Christmas dinner and cooking it and then doing all the clean up afterwards, I thought I would show you what our other son and daughter in law gave us for Christmas.

When we opened this we got tears in our eyes.  Kellie had made this for us.
The Golden Gate Bridge and the Fort beneath it hold such a special place in our hearts and it is part of our History.
Kellie put together this picture bead by bead.  It truly was a labor of love for us.
We can't wait to put it up on our wall.

Make sure to enlarge it so you can see the detail.

We have the BEST Kids EVER !!!
Love them all to the Moon and Back !

Always be Grateful

Always be Kind

Your Blessings flowed!! A fabulous meal and family fellowship and then, this gorgeous piece of Art. It is truly beautiful. I've been trying to keep up with the areas out there and praying that none of my dear CA friends have had any flooding. It's has been flooding out where my SIL works.. northern California! thank goodness he is home and will be at least another week. I've missed catching up, but hopefully can focus now on blogging.. big Texas hugs from me to you and Dave!!

That's a lot of bead work on that picture. Beautiful work.

The rain we had last Sunday rose Lake Shasta by 15 feet. The ski resort on Shasta opens tomorrow! Things are looking good and the rainy season has just begun and we're already close to our annual rainfall. It's looking like a period of dry and sunny before the next storm.
I'm looking forward to a brand new year!

the beaded bridge is gorgeous and wow, what detail. I precious memory to hang on your wall. that is the kind of weather we need here, still drought, but I dread the storms like that. I don't do well when its crazy storming.. I am worse at them than I used to be when younger. I see Debby is ok in Shasta, her comment is above mine. I have been watching CA all week because there are three blog friend and than includes you to pray for. safety. Hope your sunshine stays and drys out your yard

How beautiful, that beaded bridge creation! I've never heard of anything like it, and knowing it was crafted with love must make it feel even sweeter.
I'm so grateful you and Dave were spared from this wicked weather. Borrowing from that old production of Acquarius, "Let the sun shine, let the sunshine in ... the sunshine in!"

We have sunshine too. So far the rain is gone. Yes it has been awhile since we have had these kinds of storms with a lot of wind. Great shadows. Glad you didn't lose power. Yes there were a lot of floods and mudslides. Very sad.
What a beautiful gift you received. That took a lot of work to make. Happy for you. Take care.

Did the rain sound nice on the top of the house? We had that this morning and loved it.

The long shadows are lovely. Great shots.

Glad to read that you never lost power and that the pumps kept doing their job. Win, win.

Wonderful gift. Love that.

Happy Christmas & New Year.

What a beautiful beaded picture of the Golden Bridge.
At first I thought it was a painting. That must have taken her forever to put together. A real labor of love.

What a beautiful beaded picture you received for Christmas. I didn't realize you got so much rain in your area. We have had some rain and wind up here as well. Those clouds and blue skies are so pretty. Sometimes it's just nice to stay home, be cozy, and watch a good movie. Your night sounds great to me. Wishing you a new year filled with many good things in between.

Sue, it sounds as if your Christmas holiday was a wonderful celebration with family and thoughtful gifts as well. Glad to read that you and Dave are safely sheltered indoors and we're having a similar rain event in NH today. Sadly, it is melting away the snowfall we had earlier this week. Sending all good wishes to you both for a good 2026 πŸŽ‰
