I came across a post which had strange words with double meanings in my English language.
Thought you might get a smile out of them.
I really feel sorry for people trying to learn the confusing words.
This weekend was another hot one but we had a good Sunday anyway.
Church and going out to brunch with our son and DIL and another couple we have known for almost 40 years. Brunch was at William Jessup University. The cafe is open to the public and it is a great buffet, everything from omelettes to London Broil dinner yesterday. Their salad bar is really, really good.
Its a great place to eat and visit and close to home. Win/Win.
Of course, I didn't take any photos. I will try to remember next time we go. $12.35 each isn't a bad price for Sunday brunch.
Always be Grateful
Always be Kind

That's pretty interesting about those words. Sounds like a great Sunday. Hope your week goes well.
I love this word thing!! I have read that English is one of the hardest languages to learn, and this kind of proves it. What a nice holiday weekend you had!
so true, it is happiness with family and friends we love... i would love to eat at a buffet or anywhere but hoeme
I feel bad for people trying to learn the English language. It's confusing, for sure. Your brunch sounds good!
That is an excellent price. Glad you enjoyed your Sunday!
So true about English. What a weird language! Glad I don't have to learn it, especially American English.
I would never have thought of eating at a college and it being so good. Good for you!
That little poem sure points to the inconsistencies of our language. (Makes me so glad not to be an English teacher, lol.) That is definitely an excellent price for the sort of buffet you enjoyed! You can't beat good food shared with family and friends!
Wow, I'm so thankful for the good teachers we had back in elementary school, who taught us to read and write and helped us understand all these crazy words that we'd probably have a difficult time learning if we started as adults!
Oh, that brunch sounds divine...especially at such a great price, and with wonderful people too! What a win/win/win! Thank you for this post. It made me smile!!
It wouldn’t have been that difficult to come up with different words for one of each pair, would it?
Good thing you found that $1:35 yesterday, it helped pay for brunch.
It is a confusing language. What I find interesting is that you know exactly how to pronounce those words just by the content of the sentence.
Interesting list. My son is bilingual English/Arabic, teaches English and ESL. He always notices the quirks and oddities in the English language. Not so in classical Arabic.
My husband came to this country at age 18 and needed to learn English- it can be very confusing... It's funny though as an American, I can read them correctly without any confusion.
oh goodness. I remember my early school days. Spelling was not my favorite subject. Even my English teacher (my senior year) made us take spelling test each week. I always dreaded the test. ODD, because I now can spell very well and my vocabulary has gotten much better. Sounds like a nice brunch and to be able to enjoy a Sunday outing with family and friends makes a brunch even better. Hoping your temps begin to start getting cooler soon.
Love the word thing. Is it okay to share it?
Also love the meme at the end of your post about Happiness is... So true.
Your word item is so true. Teaching reading to young children was challenging and then add in all of the double meaning/pronunciations! Whew!
