Whew, yesterday got pretty warm, or should I say hot?
I went out to our backyard anyway.
The weeds were calling me !
Our sprinkler system has been fixed and things are finding new life.
Even the weeds are thrilled with the drinks of water they are getting.
Dave and I are trying to get ahead of the new growth and to get things under control before they go to seed.
Its a huge job but we are tackling it bit by bit, inch by inch.
Some of you may be wondering why the garden hose is out on the grass when I said that the sprinklers were fixed. There is one spot right in the middle of the lawn that neither side of the set sprinklers reach, so every once in a while we have to accommodate the thirsty part too.
I have to admit that my thighs, knees and "backside" muscles are a bit tender this morning. So I guess its all good anyhoo...
And so, the Saga continues... a little bit each day and soon it will be time to start all over again ... π π³π...
Temps today 96F and tomorrow 97F, which means it may hit 100F by 4PM.
Then its on to the front yard ... Sigh ...
Always be Grateful
Always be Kind

I have to hand it to you and Dave. That is hard work, especially when it's hot. Drink plenty of water, take regular breaks, and avoid overexertion. The weeds will always be there. Have a good week, Sue.
As much as I love having a yard, we've gotten to the point where maintaining it just isn't so easy anymore. My hat is off to you for getting out there and pulling those weeds, but like Debby said above, drink plenty of water and take plenty of breaks, etc. It's so easy to get dehydrated when outside in the sun and heat and exerting ourselves. I do what I can here, but due to back/shoulder issues, I just can't get down there and pull weeds like I used to, and neither can hubby. We've had to enlist (pay for) some help recently, but thankfully with fall and winter approaching, things won't be growing as much so maybe we can take a break for a while. Take care my friend, and sit back and enjoy the fruit of your labors!
Good for you, it's not easy! Especially when it's so hot! Stick to doing it a little at a time.
That is one reason I am glad we don't have a yard to work on - we have a maintenance company - but then you can't have a pretty yard either. Good for you - I hate that you are sore.
A neverending annoyance!!
Gilda was right, "It's always something." I'm going to make it a point to get outdoors early tomorrow and bathe our drought-stricken shrubs. Please take good care of yourself! xo
Way to go. I hate doing yard work and even more so when it's hot.
Gardening will keep you fit and healthy. My back problem prevented me to continue gardening. That is one reason why we moved into a retirement village, where we have a choice to garden or not.
Larry does the lawn...me, the flower bed. Surprisingly, the temps here in Central Texas haven't hit the 100's but maybe twice!! Shocker! It's usually 110-115 easy. And we've had lots of rain! Grass is still green!
Stay cool my friend!
hugs
Donna
Maintaining a yard is hard work, Sue, and in the temps you are having it is even more so. As much as we did enjoy having a garden with veggies and flowers, we admit how hard it was to maintain everything. While recognizing that others would prefer to remain in their own homes vs. condo or apt living, we are not disappointed to have relocated and now we admire the yards of others and appreciate all the hard work. Please do take rests and hydrate as others have commented earlier.
you two are sure getting a workout with these weeds. The weeds must think they are your workout trainers! lol. glad that the sprinkler system is working. I got so tired of the continuous weeds, so I just made a rock garden. so far it has been nice. Sam usually sprays for the weeds once a year in the rocks. my apologies for being so far behind on reading post. trying to catch up today . hugs
It is so hot for you, please be careful! Bit by bit it all gets done!
I don't know how you and Dave do it, especially in that heat.
Hope you are taking breaks and having lots of cold drinks.
