NOT GOOD NEWS

Today I received a text from our friend in Namuncha, Kenya.

Floods are ravishing the entire Rift Valley.  Many people have lost their lives and more have been displaced with no where to go and no clean water or food supplies.

This is the area where Dave and I spent 2 weeks living with these lovely, amazing Masai people.

Solomon is so concerned for his people.

Here are just a few of the photos we took those years ago.  I pray for the people there and hope they are okay.

The Rift Valley is usually dry and desolate...full of volcanic rocks and thistles.

Their humble homes aren't much protection against torrential rains and floods

Where we slept, protected by the thorn bush enclosure.

Precious kids who are now adults.
I do pray for them.

Kim who was on our Team playing games when there is a language barrier.
Smiles can do wonders.

Walking to the Namuncha School which is feared to be totally destroyed.
Jessica and Kim were part of our team there.
The kiddos always wanted to hold our hands.

Wildlife was so amazing.  I do hope they are able to survive.

Telephoto lens.. but they were actually really close to our truck on safari, after our time serving the Masai village.

I have a gazillion photos but this is just a jog of memory.

No one on the news is even mentioning other things that are happening in the world.

Thanks for looking.

It's not even being discussed by the media. This is heartbreaking. [you know this so excuse my soapbox] You know, instead of these billionaires spending all their ill-gotten gains on trying to destroy our economy by funding so much wickedness like the anti-Israel narrative. And pushing their "save the planet" speak from their jets, massive homes and personal bunkers, they should help these dear souls that have nothing to fall back on when there's a disaster.
Oh, but that would make sense and be humane, right?! My bad, I forgot for a moment that they have no humanity. smh May Jesus open their hearts to help instead of hurt others before it's too late for them.
Prayers for them and us. πŸ’™

I’m sorry to hear this. I did google it and there are some media that has written about it as of 4 days ago. It’s terrible. Just like the famine in the Sudan - nothing in the media.

Oh my. Our pastor was in Kenya for 10 years, spreading the word to the Masai. I have heard many stories about them. Sad.

I am sorry to hear this...let us know what you hear. Those poor people.

Oh, how devastating! It is made even harder by the fact that no one even knows that they need help.

I haven't heard of it either. I am so sorry. They sure don't have much to begin with. Such poverty on earth. So blessed here.

Tragic! It hasn’t been on the news here!

Heartbreaking!
All the cataclysmic events of the last couple years seem to be increasing and without reason. I can't help but think our Lord is saying, "Pay attention ... before it's too late!"

Meanwhile, His children weep. And the media's turning a deaf ear. Praying!

Oh Susan -- that is so tragic and there is so little we can do. I know it makes it even worse when these are places you've been and people you've known. (We have had that experience -- it brings these terrible events so much more to life when you've been there. Anyone who is truly human would feel tremendous sorrow anyway but there is something more about seeing places where you've been (And your time spent with the people in the Rift Valley was so much more special than what we've seen anywhere as "just travelers.") ... I agree with the comments above that we don't see enough news from Kenya and really the whole continent.)

It's hard to see those homes standing up to such weather.
