Yesterday a squirrel became part of the Circle of Life.
We looked out our office window and to our amazement saw this huge vulture
doing his thing.
We were shocked. Never have we had this huge bird in our yard and there he was
being the scavenger and cleaning up the remains.
It took him just minutes to finish up the job.
Don't know if a cat (which all the neighborhood cats think our yard is their private property) got the squirrel or what but now there is one less long tailed animal in our yard.
If I can figure out how to upload my very short video I will add it to the mess.
Now there is nothing left but the skin.

Vultures are efficient, you have to give them that.
Awww, I like squirrels. The vulture appears to be a Turkey Vulture, from the bit of red on his head. We have never seen one in our yard, though there are dozens here all the time. Did you know Vultures pee on their feet? Their pee has an antibiotic in it that kills any germs from their decaying meals.
I do hope the squirrel was not poisoned to death, we just found our second owl dead in the yard and the first one we could tell it died by eating something that was killed with poison.this one we could not tell. when people put out rat poison it kills any and all things that come in contact with the dead rats. One of my rants is rat poison.. sorry. Vultures are God's Garbage Guys and they keep our planet going.

I am behind on commenting, but I am glad to ready that you are feeling better and congrats to Amanda on her graduation. We have buzzards around our farm area all the time just waiting for a snack.
Yes...they are definitely God's garbage men. Glad they are around to pick up the remains!

My eyes played tricks on me, and at first I thought the black rocks were also vultures, although smaller than the big one you wrote about.
