I finally got my tree decorated and some of the Do-Dads up around the house.
It really seemed like a big job this year but I'm glad it's practically finished.
All that remains is the mantle decor.
It can't happen until Dave gets the garland down from the garage rafters.
So that will become another post.
I'm pretty happy with the way the tree looks. I enjoyed just sitting and looking at it with no other lights on.
Here are 2 special ornaments that must be on the tree every year.
Each was made by my 2 Daughters in Love.
A must for each year is our Santa.
We got him for our first Christmas after we were married.
That makes this Jolly Old Elf 57 Years Old!
I think he has fared the years pretty well, don't you?
Dave and I brought this Nativity set back from Kenya in 2009.
I carried it in my carry on bag.
I love the handmade quality and the charming character of the pieces.
Enlarging the photo will really show the detail better.
Happy "Hump Day"....
Can't believe it's Wednesday already.

Love IT!
SUE!!! Your tree is beautiful!! I imagine that took such a long time to do but it is perfect!
The lights are amazing...
that nativity set and the handmade ornaments are priceless. I love decorations like these so much better than store bought stuff. And what a treasure your jolly Santa is. 57 years. awesome. ANd I am so happy for that post from a few days ago.....A day in your life. Thank the photographer for me! I can 'see' you in my mind's eye now and you are so very real and orecious to me.
Merry Christmas, Sweet Friend! Wish I could wrinkle my nose and we would pull this two chairs up and sit together admiring your tree and you could yell me stories of Kenya. I once had a missionary friend to Uganda and when she would come home on furlough she would stay with me and tell me her stories. I would send care packages during the year with things like taco seasoning among others. It was a funny story about how they opened up her box to inspect and asked about the seasoning packet. She explained you sprinkle it on your tacos - only the word she used meant your 'buttocks!' They looked at her real funny but allowed her to have the box!
It's beautiful!
Santa doesn't look bad for his age. Must use Botox.
Your tree is absolutely gorgeous Sue! That is a big job. I love all your beautiful special ornaments and the Santa is still in amazing shape for his age. I really love the nativity from Kenya. I can't leave a post like this one without saying Merry Christmas!
Stunning!! Your tree is. Wow. Gorgeous. I too would love to sit by it with no other lights and just dream of happy Christmases of the past, and those to come.
Oh Sue, and I love your 57 year old Santa. I'll get a picture of my 52 year old fella and share it on a post real soon. Thanks for sharing with me/us!!!
OH I enjoyed Linda's comment. I have a very small Nativity from Africa that a Missionary friend gave me. Just a few figures. Mary, Joseph, baby and a donkey.
Your tree is lovely. I guess we all have a few of those special ornaments. Michel, just sent me a picture of one I made for her in 1981. I'm going to post it one of these days. I remember sewing these for each of the children. When they started their own households I gave them back to them. Wonder if the rest of the kids still have them??
I too love to just sit in my rocking chair in the living room and enjoy my little tree in a bucket and the twinkling light I've drapped on the back of the couches.
Christmas will be different this year....but no one can steal it....It's ours to enjoy however we can.
I had a nice surprise this morning when I realized my new car has a readio and cd that workds..I was listening to Christmas music as I did my errands.
Sending lots of love and hugs.
And I DID enlarge the nativity! I think it looks so much more realistic than many of the modern American ones. Your tree is GORGEOUS!!! And you have a bay window; I have always wanted one.
Love your special Christmas items and the stories behind them. I love to sit in a dark room with the tree lights on too. Your tree is beautiful.
wow that nativity set is wonderful~ and your trees looks beautiful. How sweet you have ornaments by your daughters in love.
Hooray for you!
Your tree is gorgeous. i can see how that Nativity set would have special meaning for you. It is lovely.
I would love to sit and stare at your tree with no other lights, it is so very beautiful... you don't need anything but the tree and the nativity from Africa.. that is a lot of work to do a tree that big... it is 20 times bigger than my two. and in the bay window it is three trees. there is one place on our sofa, that we have 3 nooks. one in the back yard and one on the front porch..
