A PRETTY CRITTER FROM OUR WALK

When Dave and I were out on our walk the other day,

We saw this amazingly colored Dragonfly.

At least that's what I call it.  I'm sure there is a proper name for it.

We were so attracted to the color and the street sparkles that came through its transparent wings.

Here's wishing you a wonderful Hope-filled weekend.

It looks a dragonfly - but I have never seen one that color either - cool.

Outstanding capture. I don't think my camera would pick up the sparkles!

I think this is a flame skimmer dragonfly. You can read all bout one here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flame_skimmer

Male flame skimmer dragonflies are known for their entirely red or dark orange body, this includes eyes, legs, and even wing veins. Females are usually a medium or darker brown with some thin, yellow markings. This particular type of skimmer varies in size but is generally measured somewhere between two and three inches long. Due to its choice habitat of warm ponds, streams, or hot springs, flame skimmers are found mainly in the southwestern part of the United States. They also make their homes in public gardens or backyards.

That is a beautiful dragonfly. I have long ago given up trying to figure out the proper name for each of these.
