SMOKE

I went outside today at 11 AM. This picture doesn't show too well how much smoke is in the air from many major wildfires burning. Most of the wildfires were triggered from the weekends lightning swarm. There are now 22 major wildfires burning from the Oregon border down through the Central Valley. The area is considered Northern California. Fortunately for us there aren't any fires in our immediate area. Most are in rugged, difficult access areas.
The sky pictured isn't overcast, that's smoke ... I could taste it and my eyes started watering so I took a shot and hurried back inside.
Yesterday we could hardly see across the street.
If you look at the trees in the far background you can see the smoke just hanging in the air. Its so murky and everything is a strange yellow grey.
Enlarge the picture and you can see the smokey air in the background trees.

Thanks for your visit to my blog Brookville Daily Photo this morning. I hope you enjoyed my post today showing the honey bee and the hollyhock flower.

I saw a special last night about the disappearance of honey bees and it is sad to think that most of the fruit, nuts and vegetables we eat would disappear with them. So governments are busy trying to find the culprit before it is too late and one huge problem is the use of insecticides.

Anyway, I wanted you to know I was here to repay your visit and comment with one of my own. Kind of like "Kilroy" was here... remember those drawings everyone used to make?

I enjoyed reading your blog post for today and I thought the photography was good too.

If you remember what new ranch style houses looked like back in 1962 then you know what we bought new and it is nothing like the little mansion you presented today. I mean the difference is like a backyard pond and Lake Erie.

I feel so subdued.

I hope the wildfires stay well away from your area and all built up areas .

I'm sorry that the fires are burning there in California. I feel for everyone, but especially those who have breathing difficulties.

Thanks as always for your visit. Ella is doing very well. Her pediatrician said that she is probably the healthiest toddler he sees, except for the CF, and it is not a factor right now.

We are also in a high fire risk area, all the forests are so dry plus the added danger of all the dead Pine Trees due to the Pine Beetle infestation blazing across British Columbia and only fire can remove all that dead growth.
3 or 4 years ago, a big fire just north of here destroyed over 250 homes.

We've been hearing of the fires. We used to live up North. Now in Southern CA we have had a real heat wave with 105+ for a few days......cooled off today!

I pray those fires will all be out soon.

I don't need to enlarge it to see the smoke... hack *** cough&*(^%$# I'm experiencing it terribly on my very own. Isn't it horrid? I'm on the drowning end of a cold, and the smoke in the air is really harsh. My shortness of breath is alarming.

It must be a very unsettling feeling to have smoke suspended outside of your home like that. I hope you stay safe and are smoke-free soon.

its crazy ..these forest fires......but for the first time ever i read somewhere, not long back, that they are nature's way of regeneration. Honestly, I am not sure if I believe that.

I remember smelling that smell when we lived in Pasadena. Can burn the eyes too.

Despite all the rain we've been having in Florida, there are still some fires going here locally too. Hope they don't get too close to you!

The year we moved to Sacramento, there had been terrible fires all over the place and the haze was just awful. Then we lived over in Natomas, just south of all the burning of the rice fields. I couldn't stand trying to breathe in all that smoke.

We later lived down the road from you in Roseville for 2 1/2 years. I also went to college at Sierra. That's been awhile, though. We've been back in Colorado since '92.

I pray that the fires can all be extinguished quickly. Cooler temps and rain would be a huge help.
