SWEET FACE

I have no idea what the name of this flower is. It grows on the end of a long stem. This was growing by the Flamingo Pool at the Sacramento Zoo.
I think it has an almost human face. Don't you?

wow! I don't know what it is, either, but it sure looks nice.

It's so beautiful. I'll bet lots of your readers will wish they could figure out what it is so they could grow it themselves (or try to). I know I'd love to have these in my garden. I love white flowers.

That is really pretty. I hope someone can identify it for you (and me too).

Let's just call it a Sueblossom!

very pretty....not seen it before ever....love those dark spots on the pristine white!!

Unusual arrangement of petals, 3 on 3...but such a lovely transparency to it.

My guess is that it belongs to the Japanese Iris family. That is my first impression. Although I can't see them well the leaves or plant structure looks like it may be like that also. Do you have a shot of the whole plant?

Regardless of what it is it is a beautiful picture and I do see that face in there.

Take care Sue.

Sue,
God never ceases to amaze me with His creativity - and then He choses to share it with us! Thanks for passing along your find. (PS - I have no idea what kind it is, but I like John Roberts' idea for a name!)

This is a beautiful flower and it does have a happy little face.
I think it is a 'Dietes Bicolour', African Iris.

Lavenderlady said...

It might be an African iris as others have stated, but I like the "Sueblossom" name a lot.

Yes, it dose. It's like smiling to me. Nice photo.

My husband found the African Lily description on line and I agree with barkfoot. It looks like that to me too.
To have it called a Sueblossom makes me blush. How nice and thank you.
