SAD DISCOVERY

Good Morning ...

This morning I made a sad discovery.

I was looking at things in our front yard and saw these patches of fluff.

At first I thought they were bird feathers but I think they are probably cat fur.

There are no other disturbances around or evidence of something happening.

There have been so many sightings of coyotes in our area, which is very suburban.

Many people have said their cats have gone missing and the 3 that used to roam around checking out our yard haven't been seen for months. Tad , across our street said his beautiful white fluffy cat has disappeared.

There is a lot of new homes being built in the area that used to be wild and a place of safety for the critters.  Now their habitat has been disturbed and they are roaming the streets of our neighborhoods.

Its very sad to see pets becoming some animal's lunch.

I know its the circle of life but it makes me sad.

Always be Grateful

Always be Kind.

That is sad. I'm sorry to read another cat went missing. Though I wonder, why not keep the cats inside? Or are these outside only cats. Either way, it is heartbreaking that they had to go this way. So sorry.

Yes, that's sad. We have the same issue with coyotes in our neighborhood and some years ago we fear we lost a cat to one.

I am so sorry to hear this. It is so sad.

Heartbreaking ... probably on account I tend to 'humanize' dogs and cats' emotions. Wish I could save them all.

I have to say I agree with you and it makes me sad too.

The poor fluffy kitty! But people should really keep their cats inside, especially in an area like yours. Studies show that indoor cats live five years longer than ones who are let out. But still, I feel so sorry for him!! It's also sad that the Coyotes are losing their homes and being displaced. Man's interference with nature is a long chain.

That is sad. I know they have to eat too but it's somehow harder to take when their dinner is someone's pet

Oh dear, that does make me sad. I have seen first hand what coyotes can do, and it's not pretty. Thankfully we haven't seen any coyotes around us here, but I do worry about Blackie out there at night as he doesn't always stay on the porch where he's safe...still, he doesn't want to come inside at night either. He's always been an outdoor cat and we are gradually making him into an indoor cat, but nighttime he gets restless and really seems to prefer being outside. We've tried to "dog proof", and hopefully coyote proof the porch so they can't get on it, but still, if Blackie leaves the porch then we can't protect him. It does concern me, but some things are out of my hands...

Since living here, we had 2 cats dragged off by coyotes! That's why Susie is strictly inside. It's heartbreaking to lose a cat that way. Another thought is, it's spring and cat mating season. But if you haven't heard that yowling, then probably not. In San Mateo where I used to live, my goodness, we could always tell it was cat mating season! What a ruckus they make, plus all the fur -
We have a den of mountain lions near us and for the most part they don't bother us, only the occasional sighting on someone's camera, walking through the neighborhood. About 20 miles from us, we just heard in the, small town of Millville, is a pack of wolves. And that's because there's elk there. Oh the circle of life...and yes we hate to see it but they were here first and we encroached on their property.
Well anyway, I'll let you go - have a wonderful weekend, Sue.

Nel's beloved cat was killed by a coyote. She lives near the mountains in So Cal, and they roam the neighborhoods. They were all devastated when it happened. I'm sorry to hear your neighbor's cat has disappeared. I hope the three cats return home. There are so many housing developments going up in your area and the surrounding area. It surprises me every time I visit.

Poor little Fluffy. My son lost a cat to a coyote last summer. The kids were sad, but it's the way of nature isn't it.
