The Falling Leaves are back at it again today.
Yesterday we worked so hard rounding up all the leaves in the front yard.
Sigh, this morning it looks like we did nothing at all yesterday.
First off, I went on Google to answer your question about the Strawberry Tree's fruit. Are they edible?
Surprise to me ... yes they are ... Apparently they have a gritty texture and are sweet/sour in flavor. The site says they have a heavy pectin substance. A lot of people used them to make preserves and marmalade. Who Knew !! The trees bell like flowers are dropping in mass quantities all over the sidewalk, and the bees are going crazy for those still on the tree.

As much as we love our trees, they sure can be a LOT of work! LOL. Those little flowers are so cute, and I think you need to taste that fruit and let us know what you think about it! Or better yet, make some jelly! I do hope you get some rain...and that you will send it all across the country to us here in FLorida. We are still SO dry!! Please don't overdo it with all the leaf blowing and mulching, etc. I know how that affects our "mature muscles". LOL. Blessings to you all.
We are having the same thing here. Bob usually takes care of them, but it's a daily thing and a few hours later, the lawn is covered again.
Very interesting about the strawberry tree!
We used to be in that position when we owned our home - and Rick worked on the leaves all the time! Are you going to eat one of the strawberries?
The pale pink flowers are gorgeous. I even love the shape.
fun to know that if I ever come across one again, I can get myself a treat from the tree. Those leaves!!! My yard guy sent me a message last week and said that he would rather wait until the leaves had all fallen before cleaning them up...I just hope that my Christmas lights lining the flower beds don't cause the leaves to catch fire.. Surely not. Those trees hold a lot more leaves than we think..for sure!! Never ending job!!
I'm a lazy home owner and never bother raking my leaves.
I hope you get the rain. We need it to but we are having it often now.
Good to know! Those leaves don't stand a chance against Dave and his mighty blower (*grin*). Like Ann, I'm a lazy homeowner who lets the pretty leaves lay where they've fallen. I think I read somewhere that their decaying mulch is actually good for the grass. Not sure how true, but that's my story and I'm gonna stick to it.
I love fall, but it does create a lot of work! Thank you for linking up and have a great weekend.
That's a lot of hard work.
Natural pectin, excellent idea to use. Lots of leaves. Sounds like you guys were busy, busy, busy.
I wish we had a lawn mower that runs, I would mulch our leaves even if it takes 3 days to do them. I asked the yard guy to mulch them and he just ran across them one time and they are now just laying there ecut in half and not gone into oblivion
I hear ya on the leaves. I do like our big, beautiful trees and appreciate the shade and fresh air they afford us, but the annual battle of the leaves I could easily do without. It does keep me busy. Keeps me off the streets. lol
The photographs are splendid. You really have a good eye for what's interesting. 🍂
Oh dear, all that work!!! Don was thrilled to receive your Birthday Card. Can you believe 88 years young. He had the appointment with the new cardiologiest and he gave my dearest and A+. Things are looking up for him. Hoping to get an email to you soon to catch up on the rest of our lives. Give Dave a big hug and yourself too. Love you.
Very interesting! However, that's a lot of work for you guys.
