I think we are finally getting a handle on the never ending jungle in our backyard.
Dave seems to have some renewed energy and takes a lot of breaks when we are cleaning up the yard. The weather has been mild. It has allowed us to spend a few hours each day out there.
Not a single grape this year but the vines are healthy and we have cleared a lot of the undergrowth.
Don't you just love the neighbor's bougainvillea cascading over the fence? that salmon colored one is so brilliant.
Since our sprinkler system has been fixed we actually have some splotches of green appearing again. Of course that means the grass is growing, which means it must be mowed before it becomes a jungle again...
It took Dave practically all day to cut our huge lawn (lots of rest breaks) with the electric mower. But PTL it got done with no ill effects.
We still have to redirect some of the sprinkler heads so they cover the entire yard.
That's for another time. I'm just happy to see a better kept yard. The weatherman says our mild weather is coming to an end and this weekend it will be back to 100F. Sigh ...
Dave has his primary care doctor appointment Friday. At least he's better but we do need referrals and answers as to his pain. Prayers appreciated.
On a sadder note;
Lynne (my friend that I used to be a caregiver for) is not doing well at all. Her daughter called me yesterday and said that the visiting nurse said it was just going to be 2 weeks at the most before her body just stops. Everything is shutting down and this end of life is hard on all of us. I'm just praying that she will just fall asleep and wake up in the arms of Jesus.
63 years of friendship is a very long time. Trying to wrap my brain around the finality of it.
Dave and I will visit her in the next few days to say our goodbyes. She won't know we are there but maybe somewhere in that Alzheimer's destroyed mind of hers she will know we have loved her and will truly miss the "old Lynne". This shell is not my friend.
Always be Grateful
Always be Kind

Aww that’s so sad but I believe if she doesn’t know now, she soon will. She’s going home! Be happy for her. No more bondage, no more pain.
You have a HUGE yard! It looks like a park. It’s nice when the yard is picked up. You guys did good!
I am so very sorry about Lynne. Your yard looks great! And the bougainvillea is so gorgeous! This is a flower that I do not know so maybe there are some around here.
Oh Sue, I am so sorry about your dear friend Lynne, but yes, it will be a happy day for her when she wakes up in the arms of Jesus, but a sad day for you all as you bid her farewell until you meet again on the other side. I'm sure she does feel your love and friendship, even if she can't acknowledge it. So by all means, give her your love and tell her you will see her again someday. (((hugs))) Oh, your yard does look so pretty, like a park! I'm glad you've had some milder days to work in it. We are still waiting for some "milder days", and some much needed rain. It keeps bypassing us and the heat just keeps pouring over us instead. I'm glad you had a chance to get your yard refreshed before the heat turns back on! Take care, and we'll be praying for Dave and his appointment, and also for your friend Lynne and her family and loved ones.
The yard looks great! And I love that you get to enjoy the neighbors bougainvillea, it's beautiful. Glad Dave is doing better and praying the appt goes well.
I'm sorry about your friend. It's a blessing for her to be with Jesus, but so hard at the same time.
What a blow to learn about Lynn's failing! I'm joining you in prayer for a soft transition, but the immediate aftermath is bound to play hard on your emotions.
I'm glad to hear Dave's feeling well enough to spend time in the yard ... but is wise enough to pace himself. (You, too!) I'm not a fan of rain, but the way we've both been feeling lately, it gives us a good excuse not to be out there. Prayers lifting for his Friday appointment!
Your yard looks great! Good job! Glad Dave will see his doctor soon, but glad he is feeling better. Take one day at a time. I am sorry about your friend Lynne.
Glad you are getting some clean-up done. Sorry you didn't get grapes this year and yes the bougainvillea looks lovely. We have some one the front of our house. Glad your sprinklers are working. The yard looks great! I will pray for Dave and that you get answers to your questions. So sorry about your friend Lynne. ((Hugs))
So sorry about your friend. Take care, Dave.
