The other day I was out in our backyard.
The Ginko tree was blooming its head off.
Heard a loud droning buzz and saw many huge Bumble Bees having a snack.
At least that's what I think they are. They are huge and flit so fast that I couldn't get close enough to get a good picture. I haven't seen them on any other plant, just this tree.
I had to delete most of my shots. They were so fast that all I got was a bunch of leaves ... ๐... You can see on the above photo one coming in for a landing.
Love our yard and all of the critters. Speaking of critters the skunk has been back!
Right at dusk it has waddled up to our sliding patio door and taken a gander at us inside. So far no smell ... Let's keep it that way !!! There you go Myra, dots and exclamation points to make this post "special" ๐

What an inquisitive skunk! Wow, these bees are huge! They don't look quite like Bumbles to me. Stay away from them!
Those are big bees! I agree with Ginny - don't get too close to them!
I agree with the ladies above. Those aren't Bumblebees...more like some kind of wasp/bee, so BEE careful! LOL. Lovely flowers! You did good getting those pictures, and you didn't even get stung!! Bravo!!
Oh no....that stinky skunk needs to find another night time party to go to. I would say that these little bees have found themselves a feast and they are loving it. One lesson I have learned when it comes to flowering trees....don't mess with the ones sporting tiny jackets and carrying their own security system!! They will sting you!! lol.
They are carpenter bees. We just had a bout with them. They’re a destructive pest and they bore holes in decaying wood, house trim, wood piles, trees that are dying. While they still are considered pollinators, they aren’t as prolific as bees. They are not impossible to get rid of - just takes consistent persistence.

Dots and exclamation points ... and smiley faces, too! Yippee!!!
I understand we're supposed to be gentle caretakers for bees, but they still creep me out. A few years ago I bought a big tennis racket to "re-direct" the carpenter bees, but I suspect they're all laughing at my efforts.
That insect is huge. A sting would be painful I bet.
I don't think they are bumblebees either. Can't say much except they are biggins! And skunks - what is going on out there?
They look like murder hornets, don't get in their little faces with your camera, or you'll find out the hard way why they have that name.
