One week ago Saturday I went to a relatives home for a surprise birthday party.
We were in a full week of blistering heat.
Their home is along a river. The coolness was wonderful.
There were 20+ people there and it was just what the doctor ordered for me.
I came home refreshed and ready to face the coming days.
I am forever grateful.

c.S. Lewis wrote a book called Surprised by Joy, a memoir about his grief process for his wife named Joy. I so love the title that often when something like your weekend happens to me and unexpectedly lifts my spirits, I will think about how grateful I am to be surprised by joy.

Glad you had the respite from the hot. Every day I sit here so thankful that we have housing, food, and cooler weather than down the mountain although we have been having quite a heat spell and it cooled for a couple days and heading into high heat again.
