We had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
It was full of blessings, smiles and Delicious Food !
We were just 8 this year, son Steve and his wife Sigrid, Granddaughter Amanda and her husband Billy and our friends that are like family...Karen and her mom Lynne.
You always hear me talk about Lynne as I do elder care with her every week.
The last two weeks were a bit difficult with her so we were all a bit nervous and concerned for her to be at the house, especially as it gets dark earlier and SunDowners sets in.
It didn't happen..it truly is a miracle. Lynne was perky and having such a good time. She didn't know our names but it didn't matter.
After dinner Amanda got out her guitar and we sat around the table and sang old hymns.
Most of us got choked up and couldn't sing..we recorded everything on our cel phones for memories. If Lynne couldn't get the words out that didn't matter either. Her voice was pure and right on key and she knew the melodies perfectly. We all had such full hearts at the end of the evening.
This last photo I took makes me teary eyed every time I look at it.
Precious memories.
When I went to their home yesterday to do my staying with her, she was still talking about being happy. She knew there was something fun she had done but she had no idea what it was.
I showed her the photo of she and Karen... she said who are they? I pointed to her and she said "that's me?" She doesn't remember that she has white hair now.
We all need those special times and good happy memories to offset the harder times and those to come.
All I can say is I am so grateful for that day.
