This past Friday was my friend Lynne's birthday. She turned 83.
83 and we have been friends for 60+ of those years !
It is getting so difficult and very heart breaking now that she is in full fledged
Alzheimers.
I don't know what the triggers were this time but her birthday brought out the worst of her disease.
Lots more confusion and Lots of anger and not willing to believe anything being said..
All that to say...ALZHEIMER'S is horrible and my friend is disappearing right before my eyes.
I'm glad I can be with her for a few hours each week so her daughter can get a break and do some grocery shopping.
Life sure has some twists and turns.

I have experience dealing with Alzheimer's, and it is so heartbreaking. They totally lose themselves. They say that we are our memories, and this seems that is so true. We just gradually lose ourselves. You are the best friend EVER!
I am sorry to hear that too. Such a sad disease - but what a sweetheart you are to the caretaker. She probably needs that break.
it is a death of the person but leave them and the loved ones alive to suffer. bob's nephew, not even 70 yet has dementia caused by parkinsons. just found out today.. you are so good to give them both a blessing by watching her. God bless you and them
My husband’s uncle is disappearing before our eyes too as dementia overtakes him. It is sad in every way!
I can see from all your comments that everyone is touch in some way with this horrible decease. So many times I thank the Lord, that though Don's body is fraile, his mind is sharper than ever.

It took my best friend last Christmas, as well. I know how you feel...makes me so angry. Unfair...but, isn't that just life? I guess...

Sue, it is indeed sad to watch loved ones, family and friends, be overcome by such a debilitating disease. You remain a special friend and I am sure that in her own way, Lynne, knows and treasures your friendship. I hope she has a happy 🎂🎉

That is so sad but I think maybe she still somehow knows that you are there.
