When I was over at my friends home the other day
I saw a flash of orange out the backyard window.
I was staring at an amazing orange with black "trimmings" bird.
I thought, what kind of a bird is that? and got my phone out to take a picture.
Of course it's Murphy's Law!
As I approached it flew away, never to be seen again.
This is a Google photo of what I believe the bird to be.
An adult Hooded Oriole.
For all you Birders out there, this probably isn't so special...
But
I was thrilled to see a new bird for me, since we have lived in this area for 16 years.
Apparently the Oriole is around our West Coast area during breeding season.
I do hope I can see another one before another 16 years comes around.😄
THANKFUL THURSDAY

What a beautiful bird! It is a thrill to see a new bird.
Wow, it is special to ME! This reminds me of the one time I spotted a Baltimore Oriole, looking kind of similar to this. It was so exciting!
Great capture. We don’t have them here so thank you for sharing. It is a beauty.
A very nice bird, indeed.
We do not see them around here. I think the only orange bird (and I've happened to see one twice within a week and never again) is a nutcracker.
Have a nice weekend!

That is a beautiful bird! I would be excited too! I always love spotting a new one. Thank you for linking up and have a great weekend.
They are SO pretty!

New one for me, too. It doesn't look "hooded." I am more familiar with the Baltimore oriole which really does have a black "hood" and a large range. Nature's "surprises" are a blessing to me, now of an age and condition that long tramps in the woods are a pleasure of the past. Thanks for sharing the happy surprise!
It is a lovely colourful bird. I understand your excitement.
Wow, I have never seen one of those.
Very pretty.
I'm a birder person - always taking photos - you got a good photo here of this rare bird for you to see. I think I've seen a few years ago but not up here where I live now.
