WHAT WE USED TO DO...LONG AGO

In our "Other Life" so long ago, Dave and I used to be Tour Directors (among other things)

What does that mean?

We were tour guides here in the States.

One of our jobs was being a part of a large group of other Tour Directors and working with the Alumni

Associations of the PAC 10 collage football teams.

Every year we would be with the winning teams as they came to Pasadena, CA for the Rose Bowl game.

Our job was to do every thing from greeting them at the airport, dealing with their luggage, getting them

into their hotel rooms, taking them on tours of the area, going to the Float Barns to see how all the floats are made for the Rose Parade on New Years Day.

And of course getting our busload of crazy excited alumni to the Rose Bowl game.  That meant each of us had around 50 people per bus to corral and basically take care of from 4 AM to midnight.

This year very few schools are playing football and CA has said NO to the over 100 years of having the parade and game.

The game has gone to Texas this year.  The entire Hospitality industry has gone down the tubes.

Such a tradition erased.

Darn COVID

So Sad

This photo is from one of the games we worked.  We were given tickets to watch part of the game before we had to be back at our busses.

Michigan was an awesome team to work for.

I believe the opposing team that year was the Texas Longhorns..think I may have said that incorrectly but I remember they had their Longhorn Steer there at the game.

These were our "NOSEBLEED" seats in the opposing teams section.

Thousands of people , very exciting and such fond memories.

Of course I didn't know any of this. Interesting, and a job I didn't know even existed!

Such fond memories indeed! I imagine you met some terrific people (And some obnoxious ones no doubt), but what a thrill to be able to stand up & say..."I used to work the Rose Bowl"

HAPPY New Year dear friend! Be blessed, stay safe to see another year ahead...making NEW memories.

That sounds like a fun but probably pretty crazy job! All the best to you and your family in the new year - cheers!

Wow! That's fabulous!!
2020 has made Ghost Memories a bit more active, and I think it's not just me. Nostalgia is a two-edged sword, and the older I get the more I find it to be so. Thankful for the memories, achy with the pain, but smiling just the same.
Love you!
