A HIDDEN TREASURE
Several days ago my Hubby and I were working in our garage.
I accidentally knocked over an old mirror that was laying on the work bench.
The back came loose.
When Dave went to fix it he discovered a magazine.
It had been used as padding so the mirror wouldn't come loose and rattle.
The weekly magazine was dated 1927.
Dave says he remembers the mirror hanging at his Grandma's house in the late 1940's.
I am always fascinated by the ads and the fashion of the day.
It makes me wonder what other treasures lurk behind old pictures and mirrors.
Maybe money???

Wow, what a cool find.
What a wonderful find! I remember well the Impana theme song..."Brusha brusha brusha with the new Ipana." Too bad I cannot sing the tune for you. I believe the cartoon spokesperson was a beaver, with sparkly white teeth.
Quite a find! A glimpse of the past!
WOW! That is pretty special.
Not my luck. I'm prone to find old rusted nails that puncture my fingers. What a wonderful treasure you both found!
Oh my gosh I love finds like that - even if it is not worth money it is awesome to look at.
Oh what a treasure!!! I remember having a Life Magazine dated of my birth 1941. It was interesting because that is the year of Disney's Snow White.
I heard about an old barber, who had a stand up piano in his barber shop. When he died someone bought the old piano. Noticed something like newspaper in the back. After checking further. stacks of bills of $1, $5, $10, etc...It was evidently the old man's hiding place. You never know what you might find....keep looking!!!
Wow! that's amazing. What fun to read it now. 5 Cents too.
this is a mazing! i would love to find an old newspaper or magazine. mother was born in 1925 . 5 cents for a weekly. wow... thanks for sharing and glad you bumped the mirror... our house in St Pete has a 20 dollar bill down inside the wall, put there by our granddaugther age 2, been there for 33 years
I love reading about things like this AND you have the magazine from that far back. This is so cool! I think i'll go through and put treasures behind everything i have framed...like a piece of art i did here and there or even a dollar bill just for the heck of it. love this post...!
Once you find something like this treasure, you are going to want to look behind every back of old pics. I have opened several but never found anything this spectacular. I love the picture on the cover. I am surprised her hair is so short.
That was a very neat find. I hope you keep it! Life has certainly changed since back then.
