I thought I would post a Real Throwback Thursday....
This is the Capuchino High School band in front of the Capitol in Washington D.C.
I had the honor of playing with this band
And marching down Pennsylvania Ave
For President John F. Kennedy's Inaugural Parade.
The year was 1961.
The temps were at 32F, .....freezing....
We had had to wait our turn for more than 6 hours
In uniform with only several porti potties available.
With tummies growling....
we then had to almost run the parade route.
It's really hard to fast step, toot the instrument, breathe
and try to look perfect for the President.
I think we did a pretty good job of it though.
