CALIFORNIA IS ON FIRE!

California seems like it's on fire.

We are experiencing a huge fire just 35 miles from our home.

The smoke is thick and at this time it is only 5% contained.

The terrain is rugged and there are many farms and ranches in that area.

You can see the heavy dark smoke in a thick layer below the white clouds.

Actually those billowy white clouds are smoke induced clouds from the flames.

We know many folks in the endangered areas and are so concerned.

The major highway #50 has been closed to traffic off and on for two days now.

The Fire crews are setting back fires to try and keep the roaring fire from jumping the highway and burning structures.

These photos were taken about 1 mile from our home.  We tried to find a high point to show the power of the fire.

Don't forget to enlarge each photo and please pray for all involved.

I have seen the fires on TV and they are devestating. these are awesome photos of the smoke, when small they look like clouds but enlarged i can see it is all smoke.. I do pray for their safety and for the flooding that is going on in several states.

Oh my gosh, this is awful! How long has it been burning and how did it start? Have they started evacuating homes? I will pray for you and everyone close. AND the firemen.

We have been away from TV, Internet and other news sources for two weeks. Even at 36 miles those wildfires are too close for comfort. I am amazed at how fast they spread.

All too familiar a site these past years. Fortunately the don't seem to be as bad in TX this year as in the past few. One thing I have found interesting is to visit the burn areas in the following years to watch the recovery. P.S. It has been a while, glad to see you still blogging!
