ABC WEDNESDAY LETTER " H "
Today is ABC Wednesday and our letter HAPPENS to be
" H ".
HALLWAYS from Fort Point, San Francisco is the perfect word for the letter " H ".
Usually the Fort is HUGGED by a HEAVY blanket of fog.
HAPPILY last Saturday was warm and sunny.
The green seen on the brick casements is mold from the damp conditions.
Enlarging each picture will HELP you see the detail more clearly.
Fort Point is directly below the Golden Gate Bridge and built in 1853 as protection to the entrance of San Francisco Bay.
If you look closely at this photo and also the first one you can see the circular lines HEWN into the floor for the cannon placements.
I love the HEAVENLY view of the San Francisco skyline and Alcatraz.
This was taken from the top of the Fort.
Be sure enlarge each picture to get a better look.
Lastly, the most important possession a Cavelry man HAS besides HIS rifle is HIS trusty HORSE.
I'm HAPPY you dropped by to see my postings for the letter "H".

j'aime beaucoup les deux premieres
great shots of the arches. I like how they lead you into the photo.
Enjoying your h photos as I sit in the airport in Charlotte. The top photo reminds me of the fort in St. Augustine, Florida.
"H"ey, those first two shots of Fort Point are really nice...
Terrific shots for the day! Love the arches! Hope you have a great week!
Sylvia
I loved San Francisco but I found the sudden chilly mists rather difficult to get used to! I never knew what to wear!
We though San Francisco heavenly too, when we visited. Had a trip under Golden Gate Bridge too. Loved all your H post.
Great post (i love that horse!). I go to SF pretty often but have never bee to the Fort. Great pictures from inside. Not a fan of mold but the green is pretty, i gotta say :)
Wonderful shots and choise for H!:-)
Great photos...I like the light and shadows in the arches shots...
Oh my word. Those are awesome walls. Really magnificent.
Oh, and of course I love the horse too! And the heavenly sky!
As always it so fun to not only see you great pictures, but read your "H" narrative that is always delightful and brings a smile.
Love the City and loved your photos. The light and shapes in the fort photos really appealed to me. You would probably appreciate some Scottish "hallways" that I liked, too, at http://scotland4thesenses.blogspot.com/. I am always waiting for what photos you post next!
Great capture all through this post.
Sue, I've been to Fort Point so many times, though not recently, so I really appreciate your photos. You captured the City very well!
I especially like the "hewn into the floor."
How gorgeous! Fantastic photos - thanks for sharing.
Love those arches, interesting structure, looks like it may be easy to get lost.
Very clever and what strikingly beautiful arches those HALLS HAVE! I did not know that there was a fort there, otherwise I would've visited it while there. If there is a next time, may next time. Thanks for a great post!
What a great story with a focus on H! Loved the photos as well!
take care.
What a great and varied post for H. Wonderful pictures, and loved the horse.
Fantastic shots. I especially love the first one.
Wow, very nice images, Sue! I really like the arches. I've never known about the Fort... very nice. Thank you.
I enjoyed you post, but especially the hallways at the fort. Something about them just settles the soul yet beckons it to adventure at the same time!
How humbling it must have been to walk those hallways and feel the history that they held.
The horse looks happy too!
Great H post.
On behalf of the ABC Wednesday Team, Thanks for joining us this week. Hope to see you back next week too!
Troy
Absolutely incredible!! :-)
wonderful captures indeed.
I LOVE the hallways!
And I love SF, though I've been there only once, in 1988.
Loved all those hallways. Beautifully creative shots. But you forgot the cavalry man's HAT!
Marvelous photos, i have been to San Francisco many times but have not visited the fort. Thanks for sharing.
I am happy to have seen your great photos. There's always so much history and culture to find in blogging! Thanks for your visit.
Oh, I love the fort! Such beautiful lines and arches, even if they are green! The view is certainly spectacular from the top, isn't it?
The cavalryman and his horse - what a sweet picture. :)
Hi Sue
WOW those are lots of H's :) :)
Love the shots.. Hope all is well
Aloha, Renee :)
Great use of light on the top Two photos!
I just love arches and archways, so I love the top pictures! I indirectly had horse in my post, but only realised at the last minute.
The second photo of the arches is my favorite. Love the composition. Heavenly Harbors are always a welcome site coming off a Midwestern winter! Thanks for your comments on my post.
Wonderful H words! Your photography is very impressive. I love those hallways! Very nice.
Looks like a fun place to visit. The arches are magnificient!
I love the red brick arches - reminds me of railway arches around here.
I like the cavalry man and his horse. That makes the shots seem for real. A different time and a different place.
Thanks for the visit.
I can hear the echos in the fort. great shots and lots of nice H's.love the Horse and Hat
Great pics as always!
