BODIE, CALIFORNIA TAKE 2

These pictures give you a glimpse of all the vintage equipment and fences just
sitting there begging to have their picture taken. You can see from the picture
above how desolete and treeless the area is. Bodie is in the high desert of California.

Very sharp barbed wire. The texture really shows up when enlarged.

I think this at one time was a gate since I see a hinge on the post.
Please enlarge the pictures to see the detail.

Great photos of a wonderful place...
Somewhere around here I have a copy of The Story of Bodie, written and self-published in the early '60's by Ella McCain, who grew up in Bodie. The stories are wonderful and probably mostly true...

Don't know if the road is still open, but there used to be a road out the back of Bodie that would take you to the Nevada border, not far away.   One time I had great fun exploring an old seldom visited stamping mill along the way. --The only reason I mention this is that if you thought the road leading INTO Bodie was bad, you ought to see the road leading OUT OF Bodie...

Those photos really convey the summer heat of CA to me. I love the bleached colours with that vivid sky.

Sue,
You are truly an artist! These shots of Bodie are worthy of a travel brochure, framing and much more.

I've seen lots of pictures of Bodie, but not these. Glad to see something different. I think EVERY local photographer has been to Bodie, but I have never been.

Barb wire is nasty stuff and is always nice to see it rolled up. Thanks for the visit. I appreciate it.

You probably don't remember when people lived and died at home and endured wakes. I wrote about it here. http://bing-it.blogspot.com/

I read once that the various designs of the barbed wire are distinctive and linked somehow to certain places. Great photos, Sue.
