ABC WEDNESDAY LETTER " O "
Today's post for ABC Wednesday is for the letter " O ".
" O " is for Orphans.
Our family , along with more than 800 people, participated in the annual 1.6 mile walk-a-thon called Hopewalks.
Hopewalks is for children of The Epidemic.
Everyday 6000 children are orphaned because of HIV/AIDS throughout the world.
This walk concentrated on the Continent of Africa where the effects of AIDS is devestating.
Hopewalks provides food, school supplies and basic health care for the vast number of Orphans.
Over $35,000.00 was raised by this walk one week ago.
It was an honor to be able to be a part of such a worthwhile cause.
To see what others have posted for ABC Wednesday go to Mrs. Nesbitts link on my sidebar.
When you enlarge the group shot you can see the many different ages that walked for this cause.
Thanks
Sue

That is a wonderful story and a beautiful gesture. I too care about the orphans that are stranded worldwide, but particularly in Africa, but we do what we can. Bravo.

It's very important that you do this walk for the orphans. It's awful to know that we spend money on the wrong things. So I admire you for participating in this Hopewalks.
Very admirable... and well done!
Very inspirational.. great pics too.
What a great thing to participate in!!
6000! What a vast number! I lived in Africa before AIDS and it saddens me to think what the disease has done!

The War Machine could pay for a cure by now, or at least bring one closer.
It is a horrendous situation.
What a wonderful opportunity to help others! Thank you!!
that is quite a trail of folk on the work - hope it raised much awareness.
Excellent post about such a worth-while cause. Too much is spent on unnecessary things, so you've done well!
Thanks for visiting.
They walked for a good cause - may it have more than a pure monetary effect.
I have an award for you! Go to my blog and pick it up! I like your blog.
Thanks for the sad reminder...

Miss Yves
That's a great cause.
Wonderful choice and eye-opener for the letter 'O'.
Hats off to the Hopewalkers for doing their bit.
Good for you. Because of the better treatments available here for HIV, it's easy to forget that it is still a major scourge in some developing nations.
Thanks for doing your part to alleviate the suffering and raise awareness.
Thank you for bringing this once more to our attention.
That's a great thing to do. AIDs is a horrible disease.
This is an O-some post! Great job for the Hopewalks. Keep up the good work and the faith. God Bless!
That's a tragic statistic, but so lovely to hear of so much being done for them.
It's always heartwarming to see all the different ages working together.
What a wonderful story and such a touching gesture. What a huge honor to take part in this work.
I love Disney espeically Mickey Mouse. I have loads of disney picts from our 2006 trip (sadly to say we haven't been back but hope to soon) that I will be sharing.

Thanks for your comment.... the piggy back wi-fi seems to be a little better today, but I dont want to stay on it for long in case the wi-fi police come knocking on the door!
This is a great post. so important to do what we can to help people who are more unfortunate than we are.
It's a troubled world, isn't it? The long trail of walkers in your photo does give a vision of hope, hope for the orphans to lead a somewhat better life. I cannot imagine their lives!
What a wonderful thing you and the rest of the participants are doing for the Aids ORPHANS of the world.
Bear((( )))
I love that you did this! Bless you and all the others who walked. Orphans have a special place in my heart!
This is very touching post! That really is a big honour to take part in this work. Your participation in it is worth of admire.
This is a great story Sue....wonderful that people are helping out. One of my sister-in-law's and brother-in-law's is adopting a little girl from Ethiopia....we are all so excited....so we will soon have a 4th foreign country represented on Chris' side of the family! So fun! Hope you have a great week!
It is amazing what people do all over the world.
Living in Africa where the spectre of aids broods over the country, it is heartbreaking to see the devastation that this didease leaves behind. What is also sad is that there is such a large sector of our society that does not take it seriously, in spite of the publicity and warnings.
Where will this eventually end? Hopefully a cure is found one day.
Thanks for all the visits and your comments
