GOLD RUSH DAYS
This weekend we went to Gold Rush Days in Old Sacramento. The cobblestone streets were converted into dirt streets with horses and lots of old wagons around. There were military drills and many examples of the life and times of the gold rush and how it affected Sacramento. It was lots of fun to step back to another era right in downtown Sacramento. I thought it was a great way to spend the U.S. holiday, (called Labor Day,) weekend.

Another great shot....You have such an eye for design and color and texture.
Love this one too.....
That sounds like great fun. I love the photo.
nous voilĂ revenu au temps du far-west ;o)
we pick up the time of far-west o)
This is lovely.
I too have some "gold" in today's bloggy post :-)
was there a horse at the other end of the cart?
I will be posting some pics of an old gold mine, now a museum.
A wonderful, well-designed photo!
It reminds me of the carts I have seen in my place back in India
So glad you invited us to click on the photo and see it close up! It is fabulous.
I am learning to paint in watercolors; may I use your image as a model?
If so, I'll check back here for permission or you can email me.
: D
You have really become a master of your lens! I can hear say, "Yes, Madame," each and every time you click the shutter. ;-)
They covered all the streets with dirt? How cool!
I love your photos, Sue. The one down below of the poppy is outstanding. You have the best eye for interesting shots.
Such smooth, lovely colors and we can hear "the wings of history".
(Perhaps you want to see a photo from our summer cottage lake on my Aminus site, welcome! )
Hello, I followed your link from Lacochee Kid's blog site. I too have a sony cybershot, 8.2 mega pixels. I also have a Nikon 10.2. I love both of them and each has it's place for me. The tiny cybershot is so handy and fits in my jeans pocket which is great when we are out and active. It also takes movies with sound. The Nikon is great for when I have time to really frame and choose my shots. it's great for speed shooting as well.
Photography is so fun and fullfilling to me too and I see that you are an exceptional photographer with a great eye for detail, color patterns and balance. I love shooting the small things too, and I think our styles are similar. Hope to touch base with you again and I'll be checking out your new pics too.
I wish I could have experienced that, it would have been so much fun!
I love the wagon wheels.
I've been to a few places in Cal., but not there. maybe some day...
Sue,
I came again and looked at your post of little pigs, and I was right! My Aminus page address was there :)
you probably did not note it from this comment.
But welcome again, Sue!
i also love the photo. Special angle and from this distance I can sense the material of the carriage.
I think that sounds very interesting! Fun picture with it.
great shot
Interesting photo, nice details and textures! Very creative and well done photo!
That sounds like a lot of fun. I loved visiting old Sacramento although it was so hot I could hardly cope when I visited!
Who would have thought these would be almost like collector's items. I used to watch a blacksmith put new iron wheels on these wooden wheels. It was a strange process but worked.
A great image to remember the past!
Cool cropping of this wagon, Sue.
Sounds like a great time was had in Sacramento. Wonderful. I loved your waggon wheel photo. - Dave
Hey - we were there on Monday! That was my first time visiting Old Town in Sacramento. I saw those old wagons, horses and soldiers - we also took a nice cruise up the river, and rode the old steam train too while we were there. Love that picture.
I thought about going to this event. It would've been neat to see people in costumes.
