EMERALD BAY
I hope I am not boring you with all the pictures of the Lake Tahoe area. The place is so beautiful that one goes a bit camera crazy when seeing it.
This is looking down from the area of the last post. Its called Emerald Bay and is an inlet on the West side of the Lake. The Bay was made a National Landmark in 1969. It is home to Eagle Falls and Vikingsholm , which is down a steep one mile trail to lake leval. The home (Vikingsholm) is a 38 room mansion built in 1928 by Mrs. J. Knight as a summer home. She had a stone tea house built on that little island you can see in the middle of this picture. It is called Fannette Island.
The home is open to visitors now for a nominal fee and excursion boats come into the Bay to admire the wonderful Scandinavian workmanship.
Unfortunately we didn't have time to hike down to the mansion this time so I can't post any photos of it.
Thanks for all your wonderful comments, they are so appreciated.

Paradise Island!
Imagine having tea there. *dreamdreamdream*
P.S.:
Beautiful images are never ever boring! :-)
It is easy to understand the reason for so many pictures - the lake is beautiful! How curious of someone to go and buld a tea house in that tiny island!
I love the lonely pine tree below, it's my favourite from this set.
What a view!
Looks beautiful! Wow!
I enjoy looking at the photos of the Lake Tahoe that you have posted. It is nature that I enjoy the most. This photo and the previous one are beautiful as usual.
It's a beautiful place and not at all boring.

Good composition on these scenic shots, Sue!
Thanks for the well wishes. I'm headed up to Pennsylvania at the end of the week to visit my parents and other good friends. I'll be photographing a lot of stuff and doing some shoots with my Dad and my cousins.
I'm definitely planning on sharing my best stuff from the trip and of course a few stories ;)
Sue - Sorry I haven't been by in so long. I haven't been much of anywhere lately...phase of life I guess. Your photos from Lake Tahoe are STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL! I don't think I have ever been there and these photos make me want to visit.
I am now wondering if you have a connection to the folks from my blog - his first name is Warren. Does it ring any bells? :)
Toodles for now - off to make supper,
Lisa
It is indeed a breathtaking place. I never tire of seeing our world and the beauty in it. Keep on posting!
ohh...i would just love to go to that island! how magical...to have your own little teas house on an island! absolutely gorgeous set of photos, sue!
How could photos like this possibly be boring. This is gorgeous. Looks a post card.
I've enjoyed your Lake Tahoe photos. I've never been there before, but your photos clearly show me why I should go.
I never could be bored with these photos. Keep 'em coming!
Beautiful photo.
what fore beautiful landscape! Well done!!!
Simply beautiful, again. That island looks like a great place to get away. I'd like to see what the "tea house" looks like. It's probably bigger than my home.
I can't imagine anyone becoming bored with these beautiful images of Tahoe.
Fabulous series!
