This weekend my Husband and I volunteered at a Health and Special Disabilities Fair at our church. There were over 100 vendors there to offer information and help on medical issues and those with special disabilities. Everything from Canine Companions to The National Downs Syndrome Foundation was represented. I believe many people received the information they needed to make their lives better. I know my life was better for serving the community this way.

It feels good to help others, doesn't it? It's a lesson our society is forgetting too fast.
This is one of those photos that will continue to increase in interest as time goes by.
Last Sunday seemed to be a day for health awareness. I posted a photo about a breast cancer walk. It's sad to see this automobile because of what it represents--childhood cancer, but how wonderful that we now talk about it and are able to volunteer to give some help.
That little face seems to be "innocence betrayed", betrayed by illness and pain and fear. All around children and others who face illnesses must shine back hope and confidence and love. Like you did, I'm sure, Sue.
I like that in the US voluntary work has a great tradition. Its not like this in Hungary!

Thanks everyone for the kudos on our behalf but that wasn't the reason I posted the picture. I wanted to share a serious subject and promote some awareness to disabilities and abilities.
Take a look at the childrens cancer website listed on the side of the car.
it's amazing how serving others/volunteering has that effect! even though the focus isn't on us, it is a fulfilling and satisfying thing.
i'm sure all that good info inspired others to help as well!

Oh my that vehicle makes my nose hurt. Don't know why.
We had a clock, a bird popped out and it made a coocoo sound and I thought that would drive me nuts but I got so I never heard it and it worked for years and then stopped and I never missed it then either.

Good for you for volunteering. It could take a lot out of you, especially when children's illnesses are concerned. Put your feet up!

What a wonderful effort. Too many people don't understand disabilities, and that only makes things harder for those who have them.
