To me this creature strangely beautiful. I could have watched his family and him all day.

They are something to watch, aren't they. My Newsweek that came today had a big article on animals that are being lost to us. There were photos of some gorillas that had been shot...so sad.

Sue, you and he shared a special moment in time, didn't you. And then you brought that to us. I'm thinking he was thinking.

Gorillas are clever, sometimes I think they are watching us and studing some movements.

so now I see the face of Allredmop..... I once went in a safari park where you drive through the monkeys, well, they were all over the car and made a mess, I think they did it on purpose.

It looks at though you and the orangutan were equally mesmerized.

i agree, orang utans are so relaxing to watch, they never rush to do anything. we are members of our local zoo here is chester, so we get to watch these guys hiding under their sackcloth regularly. if you stay and watch them long enough you find your pace has slowed down afterwards!

To me it's a wonderful experience to be face to face with such interesting creature. He looks like as if he got used to be photographed but don't understand why. Maybe we people are interesting to him too. I too would enjoy watching them all day long.

It is a beautiful photograph. I like to think of these animals as my cousins but lots of people don't. I would pick them over Aliens. Almost any wild animal would be better than having Aliens as cousins. Your photo shows all of the details and that makes it beautiful. To think they live a life without beauty parlors and barbershops, and without bras and shorts and high heels and dentists.

What a life.

Ah yes, I guess it's time for me to head over to the San Francisco Zoo... --Of course, Photowannabe Sue, you probably remember the zoo when they called it Flyschacker's Zoo (spelling?) -- and now, for the first time in my life I feel inspired to go find out who Flyschacker (we always pronounced it Flyswatter) was... God bless the internet...

These guys are so photogenic! I always enjoy this part of the zoo but it seems most of them that I have seen are more inside so it is difficult to get a good picture like this one.

Their movements are strangely graceful, too. I get a bit spooked out at times because it seems Orangutans look straight at me and read my mind...
