HIGH SURF ADVISORY
Today our first winter storm arrived. The rain started and the winds blew on powerful gusts.. When there is a high surf advisory broadcasted everyone heads for the Pacific Ocean. The waves , just 1 1/2 miles from my home were cresting
at between 16 and 20 feet. They were really exciting to see. The power and thundering crash of the waves was magnificent.

ReplyDeleteI have so grown to love the power of the ocean. I could stand and watch it like this for hours! Monday night, I was standing alone by the light of the full moon along the shoreline. It was thrilling.

ReplyDeleteYep, you're right about us west-coasters heading out to the sea during times of perilous surf... I was up on Mt. Tamalpais yesterday morning and I could see just how big those waves were at Point Bonita, and beyond... We're supposed to get a short break in the rain this morning (hasn't happened yet) so for sure, if the skys do break a little bit -- I be heading down to the Marin Headlands to see what kind of trouble I can get into... Wonder if I'll find any surfers at Ft. Crohkhite beach -- I bet they'll be out in full force down where you live, in Pacifica... Cowabunga!
I want to be there, hearing it, smelling it, watching it. I love storms, and storms at the sea, if not too dangerous, are wonderful to experience.
