A GREAT HAMBURGER

This little hole in the wall restaurant is next to the mural I posted yesterday. Big Mouth has the best, juicy inexpensive hamburgers around. They have a steady neighborhood business and Abraham is one of the nicest owner around. If you are in the San Francisco Mission District drop by and enjoy.

Looks like the owner has a good sense of humor too. Would be a fun place to eat I'm sure.

  3. I love finds like this - out-of-the-way places that the tourists don't know about yet! You should do a series of these. But then, if you posted it online, the secret would be out. What a dilemma!

Mmm, I love a good bar burger. I'd like to go there.

Thank you so much for your very kind comment today at ELDP. I'll miss posting a lot. The blogroll took time, but also getting good photographs and researching stuff, etc. I'll stop by and visit!

  7. San Francisco is THE BEST, for all kinds of reasons, including food places like these.

I was thinking about the difference between hamburgers made by folks like those at Big Mouth and those at MacDonalds. I heard that they drain most everything away from the meat at MacDonalds and then inject the pattie with flavoring - that's how they make all those burgers taste the same in all their franchises. When I heard that I winced to think so many will believe that's how a hamburger is supposed to taste.

  8. Yeah, what a great name -- and yup, burgers and beer -- that's pretty much what I lived on up until two or three years ago when I gave up beer and became a vegetarian for health reasons... 35 years ago I worked in the Mission District, and there was another absolutely fabulous burger joint near the 14th and Valencia, but I just can't remember it's name... Right now I'm chomping down on breakfast -- cooked carrots, celery, cabbage, tofu, non-fat yogurt, and a bit of catchup to make the whole mess more palletable, but a burger really sounds good! Yesterday I smelled someone frying chicken in downtown Fairfax, and it just about drove me nuts...
And that's a great picture, Photowannabe -- I have one of that same restaurant, but it's not as good as yours...

  13. My partner, The Space Cadet, is a burger man through and through. I know he's like to eat here, I'd probably have to drag him away from the place after a couple of burgers.

  15. that ATM machine looks like one of those phoney ones to obtian pin numbers and identity theft, they stick them on the wall and take them away later after someone tries to use it.

Great photo! The only thing missing is some "big mouths" sitting on the chairs out front enjoying their burgers.

  18. I had lunch at a restaurant on top of Grand Mesa today, with 2 of my daughters, and my Dad. The hambugers were $8, and Dad recalled getting 10 White Castle "Sliders" for a buck or so. My how times have changed.
