A DIFFERENT TYPE OF DAY TRIP

We went to Forest Hill, CA. today, and visited the Protestant Cemetery.

The weather was absolutely perfect.

Here are some of the fascinating memorials we saw.

Rather spooky...don't you think?

It's been 8 years since we visited.

I still found this figure fascinating with her pleading gesture.

And what do you do as entertainment???

The high school which I attended was near an old cemetery. A group of us went sometimes to look for the oldest headstone. Strange I know. The old headstones were fascinating. It was interesting when one had the birthplace of the deceased written there, mainly Ireland and England. My grandmother and her family were there too. I always dropped by and said a prayer. I didn't find it scary or spooky at all. I always wondered about the people buried there, theiir lives, those they left behind and if they had any relatives alive at that time. I am interested in genealogy today as a result.

We do love walking and driving through cemeterys. We will stop when we pass a new one. The spooky one is really something else! All your pictures are so sad and poignant.

Funny you should write this, as I was wandering round an ancient cemetery in the village of Lemonville on Saturday. The saddest graves are the little ones of the babies and toddlers who died so young.
