BITS OF CHRISTMAS

Before we launch into the New Year I thought I would post several
pictures of our Christmas decorations.

This first picture is the front of our home.
I like the cozy feel of the lights.
They seem to say, "Come on in and sit a spell."

These Pine cone Christmas trees were made by my
Mother in Law.

They are 50 years old and made with tender loving care.
She collected all the little pieces of buds and seeds, painted them
and stuck them to the "leaves".

My Mother in Law has been gone for many years.
I treasure them because she made them.

Lastly, here is a photo of Christmas at Disneyland.
I love the castle at night, all shimmery and bright.
I especially like this view with the silhouette of Walt Disney and
Mickey in front of the castle.

As always, enlarging the pictures will show more detail.

Have a wonderful weekend.

The Disney castle sure looks magical but not nearly as magical as your mother in law's beautiful decorations. There is so much love in those details. Thank you for sharing them here, Sue.

I adore each of these pictures and this is probably my favorite post of yours ever. Your house is just stunning, and of course Disneyland. But those pine cone trees, oh my gosh!!!!! Your mother-in-law was a genius! I am going to save the picture and try to make them myself.

your home is beautiful, even without the decorations and the pine cone trees are perfect, what a great idea. our pine cones don't open that wide... they are beautiful, thanks for sharing

I love these images. How special to have such a treasure from your mother in law. I never got to meet mine. Gary's Mom passed away from cancer when she was very young. Gary has never gotten over it. I tell him all the time that I am sure she was a lovely person because he and his sister turned out so well.

I want to send you a Christmas card. Will you send me your address. Thank you : ).

I am still enjoying Christmas lights at home and elsewhere. The pine cone trees were so colorful and remind me of the ceramic tree my mother-in-law made for us years ago.

This was our first Christmas without her, but the tree, and ceramic angels, church and replica of the Biloxi lighthouse made me feel that she was aware that she was still bringing joy into our Christmas season. Happy New Year, Sue!

What wonderful pictures!

I love your front entrance, inviting, indeed! Your mother in law's pine cone Christmas trees are so precious, what gifts she left you with!

The Disney castle looks like out of a fairytale.

Hi Sue. Thank you for your really nice comment on my blog. For some reason you are not on my 'blogs to read list' So I had to go back and find you and then catch up on a half dozen or so of your blogs. You always have such really good entries on ABC Wednesday. That pine cone tree is really impressive. Such talent in your family. I think you know Wanda from what I have read of your comments elsewhere. She has been such an encouragement to me. I'll be visiting again soon.
