ABC WEDNESDAY LETTER " D "

The DAY was DAMP and DRIZZLING last week
as we visited Castello DI Amorosa.
This wonderfully DESIGNED, DOWN to the smallest DETAIL,
castle is actually a winery in the Napa Valley of California.
Every brick and stone was DISMANTLED in Italy and rebuilt here.

I loved the arched DOORS and DOORWAYS we found around the castle.
We were amazed at the DEDICATION to the DETAIL DEMONSTRATED
everywhere we looked.

Nearby at a Grist Mill I found an artistic wooden DOOR and rocks
DABBED with moss. It actually made the DARK DAY seem brighter.

Aren't these DEMURE DAMSELS DELIGHTFUL? I never
expected to find this artwork in the women's restroom!
Enlarging each photo will show more DETAILS.
Be sure to DROP by the ABC WednesDAY link on my sidebar.
You will be able to see what many bloggers DABBLE in each week.
Thanks for looking and for your kind comments.

I cannot imagine the logistics of rebuilding that castle - but it looks amazing!
Love the stalls, that is one restroom I would not want to miss out on.

How lovely - a slice of Italy to explore and enjoy and a glass (or bottle) of wine as a memento :-)

I love it when public places actually come up with something unusual for their restrooms. The castle is goregous.

I love the though of the castle being transported from Italy, wonder if it came with a ghost.

Tumblewords: said...

Impressive! It has a little of everything, to be sure. Hard to imagine transportin each brick for a rebuild but it works well!

Delightful images and wordplay. Too bad the castle didn't have a moat and drawbridge.

The one wooden door looks as though it either need steps or had them once upon a time. A really interesting place to visit.

Wow! I thought that was in Europe somewhere until I started reading. Delightful, for sure. The distressed door with the moss might be my fav in the bunch (hard to choose).

We visited Castello DI Amorosa almost in the fall of 2009. They were just ready to harvest their grapes. It was such a beautiful place. We did not have the time to go in for a visit. Have a nice weekend.
