ABC WEDNESDAY LETTER " K "

Here we are almost at the middle of the alphabet.
I'm sure you KNOW the letter for Wednesday is " K ".
These KIDS are KIN to each other and we had a
difficult time KEEPING UP with them to take a picture.
Since they weren't KITH or KINFOLK to us,
we only wanted to photograph them from behind.

What were the KIDS so KEEN on seeing?
KOKANEE Salmon were spawning in Taylor Creek at Lake Tahoe.
I got a KICK out of watching the amazing red fish
expending their last bit of energy to go back to their birthplace.
They will lay their eggs and come to the end of their lives.
It makes me wonder how they can KNOW where they were hatched and return to the same spot.

The ducks seem to have an inate KNOWLEDGE of when and where
the eggs are layed and then they will have some gourmet meals.
Duck Caviar...... or is it KAVIAR????

This last week has been so wonderful.
Bev and I are truly KINDRED Spirits.
We KINDLED a friendship through blogging and finally got to meet.
Can you imagine? She traveled all the way from Florida just to visit with me.
Bev and I haven't stopped talking and comparing our lives for a full week.
My Hubby KEEPS KIDDING us about being sisters.
We have so much in (K)ommon.
Its been a great Highlight of having this blog and finally meeting a dear friend in person.

KUDOS to Mrs. Nesbitt for beginning this fantastic ABC Wednesday.
(K)lick on her name on the sidebar to see what others have posted for the letter K.

Oh yes - meeting up with blogging friends is so much fun - who knows one day more of us may meet up. It would be great to have an ABC Wednesday convention - but alas there are so many of us - which is a good thing - still we all connect here weekly! Great stuff!

Thank you, Sue, for your visit my site! I have had very happy summer with children`s family but of course also busy :)
It is really nice thing that you meet your blog friends.
I use still my slow mobile connection in the summer cottage and photos open very very slow.
I wish good Tuesday to you, Sue!

I love your K post today, and the excitement of meeting a blogging friend, how great. I like the picture of the Kids leaning over the fence watching the salmon. That must be an exciting time watching the salmon. How fortunate you are to live where you get a first-hand look at them.

Love the salmon picture. I always wonder how they find their way back (and I'm slightly creeped out by the way they change when breeding season comes around).

Wonderful that you and Bev had such a good time seeing the sights, and talKing!!
I had no idea there were Kokanee spawning that far south, because I remember them from Lake Okanagan in BC where I grew up. I also knew they could be found in Washington State, but I didn't have a clue about Lake Tahoe.
So of course I had to resort to Google, and find there are landlocked sockeye salmon (aka Kokanee) in many parts of the US, including New York.
Learn something new every day. Thanks, Sue!
