ABC WEDNESDAY LETTER " H "

Today is ABC Wednesday and our letter HAPPENS to be
" H ".
HALLWAYS from Fort Point, San Francisco is the perfect word for the letter " H ".
Usually the Fort is HUGGED by a HEAVY blanket of fog.
HAPPILY last Saturday was warm and sunny.
The green seen on the brick casements is mold from the damp conditions.
Enlarging each picture will HELP you see the detail more clearly.

Fort Point is directly below the Golden Gate Bridge and built in 1853 as protection to the entrance of San Francisco Bay.
If you look closely at this photo and also the first one you can see the circular lines HEWN into the floor for the cannon placements.

I love the HEAVENLY view of the San Francisco skyline and Alcatraz.
This was taken from the top of the Fort.

Be sure enlarge each picture to get a better look.

Lastly, the most important possession a Cavelry man HAS besides HIS rifle is HIS trusty HORSE.
I'm HAPPY you dropped by to see my postings for the letter "H".
To see what others posted go to Mrs. Nesbitts link on my sidebar.

Enjoying your h photos as I sit in the airport in Charlotte. The top photo reminds me of the fort in St. Augustine, Florida.

I loved San Francisco but I found the sudden chilly mists rather difficult to get used to! I never knew what to wear!

We though San Francisco heavenly too, when we visited. Had a trip under Golden Gate Bridge too. Loved all your H post.

As always it so fun to not only see you great pictures, but read your "H" narrative that is always delightful and brings a smile.

Love the City and loved your photos. The light and shapes in the fort photos really appealed to me. You would probably appreciate some Scottish "hallways" that I liked, too, at http://scotland4thesenses.blogspot.com/. I am always waiting for what photos you post next!

Sue, I've been to Fort Point so many times, though not recently, so I really appreciate your photos. You captured the City very well!

I especially like the "hewn into the floor."

Love those arches, interesting structure, looks like it may be easy to get lost.

Very clever and what strikingly beautiful arches those HALLS HAVE! I did not know that there was a fort there, otherwise I would've visited it while there. If there is a next time, may next time. Thanks for a great post!

I enjoyed you post, but especially the hallways at the fort. Something about them just settles the soul yet beckons it to adventure at the same time!

Troy said...

How humbling it must have been to walk those hallways and feel the history that they held.

The horse looks happy too!

Great H post.

On behalf of the ABC Wednesday Team, Thanks for joining us this week. Hope to see you back next week too!

I LOVE the hallways!
And I love SF, though I've been there only once, in 1988.
