FALL WEEKEND

This weekend our family did the annual trek to Apple Hill. So did a gazillion other people. After trying to look at and taste the samples of many different varieties of yummy apples and fighting the crowds to see the pumpkins we decided to have our picnic lunch and go a different direction.

We continued up the mountains to Lake Tahoe and went to Taylor Creek. There was just about an hour left of sunlight and we enjoyed a wonderful walk in the forest. The trees are just beginning to turn color and the air smelled so fresh and clean.

This is the start of the Kokone Salmon spawn. The salmon turn bright red as they make their way back up the Creek to lay their eggs at their birth spot. It is so fascinating watching them as they make their way against the current.
Remember to enlarge the pictures to see the detail more clearly.

I love your photos of fall here. I would have found a different place too...not fond of crowds.

We just got back from a Fall walk - you captured the color magnificently as usual!

We're off to the desert for a week and a half so hoping to have some ok photos when I return. The Mojave National Preserve, Death Valley and the Valley of Fire are on the top of our list. Fun!

Such an incredible instinct, isn't it? I love the pumpkin perspective in that first shot. Always something wonderful to see here. :)

Love your photos of the pumpkins.
My little grandson Callum loves pumpkins too, but every time he sees one he points and says "banana"!

I feel so sorry for the fishes as they have a hard time now with the coral being poisoned. The birds are in the same boat. It is a strange world we live in and beauty is becoming scarce but you found some and shared it with us and I am grateful for that.

I try to imagine what acrobatics you had to perform to get the perspective of the first picture! *smile*

Love all the pictures and the salmon swimming upriver is fascinating.

What a beautiful fall you have there! There has been bad weather over here for more then two weeks now so that two weekends in raw I haven’t gone for a walk anywhere. Your photos make my green days. I love that orange color of pumpkins on the first photo and its perspective from which I can see a piece of lovely blue sky. It is also beautiful the second photo with those colorful trees and a part of wooden fence. And the third photo is also wonderful. It is for sure fascinating watching salmons in that crystal clear water. Thanks for this beautiful walk.
