A FEW MORE FROM BODIE, CALIFORNIA

Just a few more pictures from a fun daytrip a few weeks ago.
I love all the old rustic buildings and things just laying
around.

The bright noon day sun made taking good pictures
difficult for my camera, but these buildings captured my
imagination anyway.

A look at the past. Don't forget to enlarge the shots.

I like the photos. They bring back a lot of memories. That wheel and the iron wheel around it and the iron piece around the hub holding the hub together. I have seen a blacksmith make them and then watch him put them while white hot on the wood wheels and how they burned and smoked for a second or two. I was only a preschooler then but it made an impression on me.

Thanks for visiting my Brookville blog and for commenting there about the peanut butter on the trees.

I hope you get to see my new blog about flowers. Our Flower Pot.

I like the perspective on the first and the third photo. It is interesting the way you showed those old details. Beautiful post, as always!
Have a nice weekend!

Those wooden buildings got character! :-)

I grew up on a farm. We had a hay wagon in the barn. It was used to haul fresh cut grass from the meadows down to the cow barn. I loved riding in it.

What a fun trip! It looks like you had a great time! I know what you mean about the bright sun being problematic in some pictures.

Just three years to the Annular eclipse May 20 2012. Bodie is on the southern edge of the eclipse path, I will be heading for the Reno area along the center line of the eclipse.
The website eclipser.ca has some maps showing the eclipse path through the various states.
Now you have three years to prpare. This is a sunset event so a view to the west is needed, and no clouds

Even the name Bodie seems to evoke memories of long lost cowboys and miners digging for gold.

Your choice of objects to snap gives us a splendid idea of the site. I love the wheel, and what would humankind have done without it?!

Well, you got some great shots, blazing sun or not...

And I should have commented on your "T"ufa post -- I have a connection with Mono Lake that goes way back to my early teenage years... Must get there again one of these days, but there couldn't be ANYPLACE in California more remote...
