ABC WEDNESDAY LETTER " W "

Abc Wednesday is here and the letter is " W ". " W " is for the Wild West theme
we have at our Church Day Camp this year. Its called Breakaway to the Great Frontier.

These pictures are from the entrance to the Church campus. All the town facades were built by very willing and talented volunteers.
The white tents you see on the inside are individual temporary classrooms built for 10 kids and 3 teachers and assistants each. Every inch of the campus is used and its a sea of little white tents.

There is a 3 hour morning session and then its repeated all over again in the evening, from Monday till Friday.
Between the two groups we have about 2800 kids from kindergarten to 5th grade, and almost as many volunteers helping.

There are skits, singing, dancing and all kinds of recreational activities. Waterslides, bounce houses and plenty of water and good wet fun. The temps. got into the low 100's F. today. In these pictures you can see the authentic wagon wheels and wagons.
That's why I have not visited many of your blogs this week.
I am up to my eyeballs in this great happening.
Enlarging each picture will give you a more detailed view.
Go to Mrs. Nesbitts link on my side bar to see what others have posted for the letter W.

Oh gee, I'm first~! This is absolutely fantastic and I myself have taken part in just such an atmosphere at my church. Mind you, we didn't have 2800 kids, but always over 500. I used to be the grade 4 leader and had so much fun doing it. I also know how much work is involved and kudos to you and all your volunteers for doing such a wonderful thing for the children!

I am absolutely amazed. Such a great project for these kids. I can't even imagine the work involved with having 2800 kids in one place. We probably don't have many more than that in our entire school system :) You must have an amazing church.

Your church people actually built that Western town? I am very impressed. The kids must have so much fun.

It is certainly obvious why you haven't posted for a few days. There is an unimaginable amount of hours involved in an undertaking such as this. The volunteers need to be told how impressed we all are by this project! You are close to sainthood, Sue, for such active participation on your part. It is a delightful age group of children, isn't it?

So appropriate for me to read today, when my 'ride 'em cowboy' iGallop replacement has arrived and is sitting in the hallway waiting to be unpacked! LOL!

That looks like fun on a very large scale!! Waterslides in the Wild West? Might be pushing it, historically speaking, but I bet the kids didn't care!
