SPACESHIP ??

As we came up over the hill this afternoon this was the sight we saw.
The sky was clear and a brilliant blue except for this spaceship cloud.
This is not the usual type of cloud formation we see here in this part of California.
The temps. are in the 90's here, with the promise of rain by next weekend.
I know we can sure use the rain but I love the warm weather.

Very interesting stuff. I looks like the kind of clouds you see at the top of some mouuntains. But this one looks a lot thinner and out of place.

See this url about lenticular clouds.

Very interesting capture there! And I'm with you, I love the warm weather and looking forward to it hitting here.

I believe that's an anvil-topped cumulus cloud being spread by shearing winds higher aloft.

Tomorrow, continued hot, chance of thunderstorms. Your local forecast is coming up on Eye-witless News. When the news breaks, it's probably out of warranty. Back to you!

I think it's an anvil-topped cumulus rather than a lenticular formation because you can see the narrower cloud column below.

Beautiful view and a photo of crystal clear day and so lovely blue sky! That cloud really looks like a huge white spaceship; really very interesting!

I wasn't thinking ET actually, I was thinking "Close Enounters....". Can you hear the song? Ba, Ba, Ba, Ba, Ba!!!
I think that is where the Simon Toy got it's origin.

Amazing stuff! Reminded me of some oictures I took last year travelling home from Holland....the lights in the sky were the reflection from the bar lights! lol! And I hadn't been drinking either!

Fantastic cloud, reminds me of the spaceship in the movie "Independence Day".

Yep, I think that MUST be some sort of spaceship... Only natural that they would eventually start disguising them as clouds...
