ABC WEDNESDAY LETTER " Z "

Here we are at the final letter of the alphabet for the third time. The letter for today is " Z ".
This is for the Folsom City ZOO Sanctuary located in Folsom, California. I appreciate the Zoo's motto
"Teaching Responsible Human Behavior Towards all Animals."
All the animals in this small Zoo Sanctuary have been rescued because they were rejected or confiscated. Most have been severely abused, injured and are not releasable.
The Zoo administration wants to teach conservation and education about the North American wild animals .

It is obvious that these animals are well cared for and have a lot of roaming space and things to keep them energized. Its a shame that they have been abused and can't return to their natural habitat. Perhaps through this Zoo Sanctuary people will learn that they can't keep the wild creatures and that abuse is against the law.

To see others final Z posts go to Mrs. Nesbitts link on my side bar.

belle devise du Zoo, je trouve le tigre magnifique, j'adore il est majestueux.
beautiful slogan of the zoo, I find the beautiful tiger, I love it is majestic.

Hi, rescue zoos are OK because otherwise, the animal may be destroyed. But I dont normaly approve of keeping animals in cages,
Although I havnt been there, At Churchill, Manitoba. they run vehicles to an area of Polar bears in the wild. You are in the cage in that case, not the bear.

I LOVE the pictures of these magnificent creatures. Sad that people would be cruel, UGH!

That's wonderful. My husband is involved in the local zoo, and he has been very impressed with their systems. He takes his 3rd graders for zoo week every year, and wow do they learn a lot about how to listen and watch and be quiet. It's helped me change some of my thinking about zoos.

It is sad what happened to these animals but it is good to see that they have a sanctuary to live out their days in relative comfort rather than being destroyed.

Nice post.

sad but true... at least these animals have a place to stay and food to eat.

I agree with Outhouse - I generally dislike seeing caged animals. But this is a wonderful service and a perfect way to teach responsibility.

Great shots. That bear just looks too cute for words.

Great Z post, Photo. It's wonderful to see a place set aside where formerly abused animals can live out their lives in ease and with safety.

That sounds like an excellent Zoo. Very worth-while!

That is such a cute picture of the bear sitting there. :-)

There are bears in most zoos, but with the exception of pandas, I have never seen any that looks so much like a Teddy.

What a beautiful tiger-shot! And it's nice to see that they have a secure place to live.

As a child I loved to go to zoos'. It is very good for children to see the animals and to read about them. It's horrible that so many people abuse animals and that they need rescuing from their tormentors.

Oh I love the zoo shots you got! Very nice...

Great to hear all these animals are safe now, I really like the motto.

These do not seem to be cages in the usual sense. It's just that you are looking through the barrier that keeps the animals from harming you (and vice versa). Right!

This type of zoo is wonderful for rescued animals, but zoos everywhere seem to be doing their best to breed endangered species and to release to their natural habitats the zoo-bred animals. Zoos are also a lot of fun to visit, and their character seems to reflect the ethos of the community that supports them. I give Folsom high marks!

It is sad when people abuse animals but it is wonderful that places like this exist to give the animals a more comfortable life.

That bear is the most contented creature I've ever seen!

seems like tigers are a must in most zoos. Happy ABC Wednesday!

I have read several articles about exotic animals being rescued from people who abused them. I just can't imagine this! I'm glad to know there are places like this zoo that will take them in and care for them.

we have the same choice for this week, zoo. the photo of the bear is so cute, as if isn't caged - looked so content to be just sitting there! lol!

I imagine Zoos are going to be popular today. Good pics.

Nice zoo !

Your "Z' selection is tops. I have ambivalent feelings about zoos, but nonetheless I adore visiting them. It's one of the places I always manage to visit when travelling to other cities.

That's the only solution when animals have been mistreated in these ways. I hope the poor things can live in peace and comfort now.

On behalf of the Team, thank you for participating in this round.

Here's Zsolt and Zannnie sending you our greetings for your Z post :)

Thanks for popping by and commenting always!

The animals in the zoo seemed happier than the ones in Budapest :) cos the Budapest Zoo is way too small and the lions there are especially unhappy

i have always loved tigers.....they are the national animal of India and it's the only country where Royal Bengal Tigers are found and to think of it they were almost at the point of extinction due to indiscriminate poaching in the very country that made them a national symbol......they have made a comeback in recent years though, kinda like bald eagles for America...and I love tiger cubs ..they are such playful little things........it hurts to see wild animals kept in captivity but these are being given a second chance at life....so I guess, it's a good thing. and yes their motto is admirable. Curiously, tigers are not found in north america......so this one must have been abused some where outside of america............. :(

in my passion for tigers, i totally forgot about the bear...:) isn't he adorable...kinda like winnie the pooh :)

I haven't been to a zoo in a long time. A must visit for the grandkids and I. I too appreciate their motto. Nice photos, Sue.

That looks like a great zoo! I like their motto too.

We have a place near here called the Exotic Pet Refuge. Nowhere near as smart and well organised as Fulsom Zoo, but they do a similar thing. They take in rejected and possibly abused exotic pets, jungle cats, primates, alligators, snakes, reptiles, foxes etc that people have decided to keep as pets and then found they were unmanageable ...or had them confiscated or whatever.

I did a post on it back in October.

So sweet! I have a very soft spot in my heart for rescued animals. Our dog was abused by the family that first adopted him from the breeder. That he's been able to find comfort, safety and limitless love in our home is something I think about every time he wanders up to me and nudges me with his wet nose. Humans would be better humans if they spoke the language of these amazing creatures.

Thanks for sharing this with us. You've made my day.

They are both quite watchful - you caught their personalities quite well. Hopefully they can learn that not all humans are bad. Great post!

I didn't know Folsom had a zoo. Sometimes it's kind of sad to see animals in the zoo when they can be free in the wild.

Holiday Maker said...

As long as the Zoo are taking good care of the animals, givimg them enough food and space to move about tnen it's fine.

I love animals. The tiger look different from our Malayan tiger.
